Arrival Story:
We wanted to have a companion for his sister Biko. But to tell the truth, I wanted a dog of my own, since Biko was very much my Sons dog. Sam turned out to be the best dog ever. He is my shadow, never far from my side. There were only 4 pups in the litter. Two females and two males. We had to wait for which one was left. But- the breeder knew we liked him and she influenced the other buyer in taking the other one. I thank her for that, because Sam is my big Baby, I never had a better dog. To be fair, we met the other lady with her dog once and she was very, very happy with her choice. ;o)

Bio:
Sam was the runt of the litter, very small but he had spunk. He had problems with his elbows. He had to have surgery on both. We never saw a more lively pup inspite of all he had to endure. He loves life and tells everybody so. He gets very excited when it's time to play. He is neutered. He's our "therapy dog" for my husband; lowers his blood preasure every evening. ;o) Update: Sam had another surgery. He hurt one of his toes while playing ball. It took him a little longer this time to recover from the operation, but now, a week later he's up and running again. Thank God! Update April 2006: Sam tor his tendon in his knee and had surgery again. It's a slow recovery. It's been almost three weeks now. He finally started using his leg again. He did fine at first but bumped his knee a week ago. We have to massage and gently stretch his leg. For at least another 2-3 month there will be only short walks on the leash for him, poor Sam. Well, it's November 16th now and Sam has had another surgery. This time his other knee needed the same surgery as the one back in April of this year. This time around his recovery is going even better, which is great! Such a tough guy!
