Missing Sarge

Oh Sarge. If you only knew how much you are missed.

We had our family Halloween Party again this year. We thought it would be easier the 2nd year without you, but it was not.

We miss your groans, your sometimes, smelly breath, your burbs and most of all your cuddles and kisses. You were such a gentle giant.

Why can't you just come back. Just long enough for me to pet your coat, give you a hug and you to kiss my face again.

We love you Sarge. You will never be forgotten.

Sarge, We are thinking of you

Spring is here and you are not. We miss you very much and your sister Roxie is lost without you. We want to get her someone to play with, but we just can't seem to get over the loss of you.

About the only good thing we can say about you being gone is, this Spring when Roxie Blew her coat, we remembered how last year you both blew your coats at same time and our carpet was white instead of Green. This year we have much less of a mess.

But we would put up with any mess, a million times to our knees, just to have you back and get one of those big old puppy collie kisses from you again.

Take care Sarge. You are loved and will never be forgotten.

Oh Sarge, You are so missed. I don't have my kitchen friend, sitting staring at me with those big brown eyes. You patiently waited and watched while I baked cookies and I loved it that I never had a dirty floor while I was baking, as you made sure every scrap was picked up. When I was done with each batch, I went to throw you a cookie to try with me, but you were not there. I cried. Oh how you loved baking cookies with me.

I wake up and your face is not in mine, with your hot, stinky breath telling me you have to go outside or that Roxie, your sister, is in to something. (And she has become a monster puppy) She is lonely too!

I promised you when I said goodbye, I will keep your memory alive . I put a cookie on your grave. Perhaps, somehow, you can get it. I love you Sarge. We all miss you terribly.

Last night when we came home, tears whelled in our eyes,
He could not stand when we called out his name.
We found him underneath the pine,
That's when he told us it was time,
We burried him the next morning in the rain.

The ones you love, never really go away, if you only keep their memory alive.
We'll listen to the wind, to hear him howl again,
As Hound Dogs, Never Die.

We are heartbroken. We have owned many a dogs. But None was as PERFECT as Sir Sgt. Pepper. He will be missed, but never, ever, forgotten.

Well, Sarge is old and we are keeping in shape by having to lift him up and now down the steps as well He is such a proud dog, and the breed is a pridefull breed, but we know it is not time yet. We also know it won't be long as he seems to worsen pinch by pinch, day by day. We have put other pets down, but this one will be especially hard. I just can't imagine life without this special fella. My partner in breeding is there for us and has offered us a spot to place him with the other great Collies who have passed away on her acreage. This helps a pinch but I don't believe we can totally prepare ourselves for it. We hope we have strength to be with him. I know I can't and I feel like a failure but my husband is stronger in this type of situation.

Sarge is getting old fast. It hurts our hearts so much to see how he can barely sit down or get up without stiffness/pain. We are trying to figure out a way to get him outside without steps. For now we don't mind carrying him up. Yep, all 70 lbs. He no longer will walk on Pergo floors, only carpet as he slides and falls and can't get up. He has been such a good dog. A Perfect. We can only thank God for the time he is allowing him to be in our life. We will be so lost without him.

At least he still has enough energy to help bake christmas cookies together. Our tradition is that he and I share 1 cookie from each batch to try them out. He just loves that.

I am glad to report, I am still around. Not as entergetic the older I get but I manage quite well. Daddy and mama got a new car and it is harder for me to get in and out of, so Daddy built me a ramp or just picks me up when we go somewhere. My hips are hurting, I can't see well due to Collie Eye. Mama wants put those puppy mills out of business so other dogs don't have problems like I do. ,

I still love to just sit next to daddy or mama and watch TV while they pet me. I am so glad they let me on the sofa. It's brand new, but they don't care. They think the time with me is much more important than any sofa.

My sister Roxie is still a handful, but she helps keep me in shape. I like to go on walks, but not as long of ones as Roxie. It just isn't easy any more. I am so loved, I am a very happy boy and very glad to be here in this home that loves me to pieces.

FROM SARGENT PEPPER

Hi all.

Life is pretty simple around here. I camp, I sleep, I cuddle, I chase after my sister, I steal bones, and I beg for food. What more can I ask for?

My sister isn't feeling good and doesn't want to play the way she use to. She must have the puppy flu or something. So It's not as much fun fetching the ball when she doesn't care if she gets it or not. I have given her my place on the sofa.. But only while she is sick, then I will re-claim it. See... I am a nice old fella.

We are going camping next weekend and I am excited. It has been a few weeks and that means I get a hot dog. Poor Roxie won't be able to have one unless she feels better. GREAT... That means I can have hers.

Naw, mom still won't let me have it as she is on a weight kick. (As if she were some skinny person) ha.

CAMPING WEEK 4th of JULY

We got to camp for an entire week. I don't like fireworks or firecrackers. They are way too noisy for me.

I got hotdogs, chips, steak and no leash or lead the entire week. I guess I'm such a good boy that my parents trust me to stick around. Of course they keep me in sight anyway. It was a hot one this weekend. I like it under the big trailer best. Momma even pulled out the hide-a-bed for me and my sister. But I hogged the entire thing and made her sleep on the floor. She didn't mind as she was not kenneled as she is starting to behave herself again.

We had lots of training. (Yeah, as if I would react to that nonsense) But the attention and treats were fun anyway. Played catch a lot. I think I lost a couple of pounds. We had lots of walks and dad and mom got a big truck, just for us to have more room for riding in. I loved it. Roxie didn't.

I am glad to be home, but my sister Roxie still wishes she were camping.

AH PEACE! THOSE PUPPIES ARE GONE

I am glad each puppy has a wonderful new home, but I am happier that they are gone. I now can go in and out without one of them trying to herd me and wanting to play. I am too old to want to romp with puppies. I only like to play fetch with my daddy. Especially if my sister is playing with me. She may be younger and more spry, and I can't see real well, but I beat her every time to the ball. She really isn't too bright when it comes to playing fetch.

I shared my sofa with her last night. She didn't hog it like normal. Perhaps she is growing up and becoming more of a Lady... (NAW. not Roxie) Now mom and dad have to sit on the floor or the chair. They are pretty good sports about it all. I'm old and they spoil me. I can do no wrong in their eyes.
Boy I have them fooled.
