Arrival Story: We went to see Circe, and Prospero was her "cell mate". We couldn't split them up, so there we are.

Bio: Prospero is a goofy, sometime bratty teen. His mother was a stray white Husky and he was born in the shelter. Fostered by a volunteer for a few weeks, he was adopted by a family that kept him for 6 months and then returned him because he "wasn't housebroken" and "was too hyper". (Hm. Whose job was it to housebreak him? And aren't all puppies quiet and sedate?) He was then adopted and returned after only 24 hours, and spent the remainder of most of his first year of life in the shelter.
We came across Prospero when we went to the Animal Rescue League of Boston to look at Circe, whose picture was on their web site. Circe (or Shyla, as they were calling her then) had been adopted out once and returned after less than 24 hours because she dented the crate they had put her in, and almost got out. The shelter thought maybe she had "separation anxiety" (actually, I think she just didn't appreciate being crated when there were more interesting things to do outside the crate), so they had started putting other dogs in her cage to keep her company. When we adopted Circe, we just didn't have the heart to leave Prospero (or Archie, as they called him) behind.
When we first adopted him, however, he had absolutely no interest whatsoever in human beings, never made eye contact with us, and had no desire for human affection. He was attached to Circe (though that's always been a bit love-hate since she bosses him around) and was certainly fascinated by our cats, but we literally didn't exist for him, except when we were trying to control or discipline or train him in some way, when he would just throw a barking tantrum to get us to leave him alone.
We kept at it, though, and now he is the sweetest, warmest, goofiest, most loving and most harmless dog on earth. He does still have a chip on his shoulder, since he's the low man on the totem poll: everybody bosses him around, even the cats. Circe is much bigger and stronger and very dominant and as far as she's concerned he can't have anything, no toys, and certainly no cats. When she's not pushing him around, we're making him sit or stay or lie down or come. Sometimes it's too much for him and he mouths off to us, but as he's gotten older he learned the put-upon Husky grumble, which is much less loud than the high-pitched brain-piercing barks he used to make, and has the added advantage of being so cute that it sometimes lets him get his way.
He has one reddish brown eye (his left), and one eye that is 2/3d brown (a darker brown) with 1/3rd a crescent of pale sky blue. It's very striking and gives him an almost malevolent look at times, if you can take him seriously enough to imagine him being malevolent.
At one of the Dog Parks he used to go to he became a bit of a celebrity. He is very unique and athletic, thin and sleek almost like a greyhound, he jumps over other dogs and prances around so proudly it makes you laugh. The other people in the park misunderstood his name and thought he was called "Ross Perot", hence the nickname "Ross".
