Happy 2007!

Where does the time go? It seems like only yesterday that I was howling in my crate all day long; now I practically have the run of the house while Mommy and Daddy are at work.

Speaking of which, they sure spent a lot of time at home last week. And there were lots of parties and presents and people around, too. I don't know what was going on, but I'm glad we're back to normal now. But I did have fun at my first away-from-home Christmas party and New Year's Eve party (even if I did have a little accident on New Year's eve...I didn't want to disturb anyone by scratching on the door!).

And, most importantly, I met ANOTHER Schapendoe (we're pretty rare). His name is Harley and he goes to High Park on the weekend just like me and my cousin Morgan do. He's just a puppy, but I guess we'll let him play with us if he wants to.

I think that's it for now. I just want to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet (except the barking from the new dog next door) before Mom and Dad get home.

Nothin' Like Swimming on a Hot Day!

I'm sure glad Mom and Dad haven't decided to get me shaved because of the hot weather...I'm not suffering too much, and I know I would just look silly without my beautiful coat. But sometimes it is hot and it would be nice to get cool while still being outside.

That's why I'm soooo glad we went to the Beach (Toronto) on the weekend. Everyone was heading for the sand and the water, but we noticed that there was a nice big park close by so we went there and played frisbee for a while. It was getting pretty hot and we discovered that there was a pond on the other side of the hill with a big fountain in it, so we thought we'd go have a look. Well, when we got closer we noticed that there was a dog swimming in the pond!

Now, I know a good thing when I see it, so I walked right over to the edge of the water and laid down to cool off my belly. That felt so good that I decided to get completely wet, so I went for a swim. I couldn't go too far 'cause I was on the retractable leash, but I went far enough that I got nice and cool, practiced my strokes, and cleaned my fur all at the same time!

I could've stayed there all day, but eventually we had to leave (but we did stop for an ice cream on the way home - yum!). I can't wait to go back...

I hate it when I have to be home alone; it's not fair! Everyone goes out and does fun stuff and I'm stuck here, looking out the window and howling.

Now I know what they mean when they say 'it's a dog's life' - I think I'd rather be a human!

More Visitors

Another busy weekend!

We drove up to the cottage to get it all ready for guests from New Brunswick. My mom's aunt and cousin came up for a visit and they wanted to be sure to visit Wasaga Beach while they were here. We all had a good time but it was pretty chilly; everyone had their long pants and sweatshirts on. Of course, I was fine because I have such long hair.

But the best part was that we went for walks on the beach (normally I'm not allowed on the beach but because it was so cold and windy, there were no other people there, so it was OK). And I didn't have to have my leash on, so I could run whereever I wanted, as long as I came back when Mommy or Daddy called. It was a lot of fun and I even went in the water. It was way too cold for people, but it was just right for me!

Even when we were back at the cottage and sitting on the deck I didn't have my leash on - I ran down to the road a couple of times when I shouldn't have, but for the most part, I was a good boy. I hope we get to go there again soon!

New Friends from far off places

Woof, did I have a busy weekend! Daddy came home from his business trip (I thought someone was missing from the 'herd' but I wasn't sure), we found out I was sick and had to get some medicine for me, and I met some new friends from England (I don't know where that is, but people from there sure do talk funny).

Joe and Sam and Sally (who will be 6 soon) and their mum and dad visited us on Saturday night. It was raining so we couldn't spend any time on the patio, which is my favourite, but we had fun inside anyway. Daddy taught everyone how to make me 'sit' and 'down' for treats, so I spent a lot of time performing but I didn't always get a treat, which was kind of confusing. :-( But I always like meeting new people, especially kids who will play with me, so I had a good night.

Unfortunately, everything is back to 'normal' now which means Mommy and Daddy are at work and I'm at home alone. :-( I hope they come back soon.

Yeah, Dogster has my Breed!

It's been almost a year since I've been on Dogster and FINALLY they've included my breed, Schapendoes, in the breed list. I feel so official now!

I'm a BAAAAAD Dog!

Oh, I've been bad this week! I've been leaving 'presents' for Mommy for when she comes home to walk me at lunch...I was only trying to get more attention, but she and Daddy got all worried that I was forgetting all the good potty training they did with me or that I was sick, so I had to go to the v-e-t and they called my trainer to talk about me and everything!

Geez, can't anybody take joke around here?

So today I decided to stop it, and Mommy was a lot happier when she got home. She even took me to the park, even though it was all wet and mucky! I guess I get enough attention without playing tricks, huh?

Alone at Last!

I sure love Mommy and Daddy a lot, but I'm glad the holidays are over and they're back at work; now I can get in some quality 'me' time. It feels like I haven't had a moment to myself for weeks!

When they come home, they think I'm all excited to see them, but actually I'm trying to tell them that it's OK, they can stay away longer if they want. If only I had some way of communicating that to them...

Anyway, now that life is back to normal, I'll have more time for my diary entries, and more couch time, and more 'barking at everyone that walks by' time...finally!

Happy New Year!

Wow, my first Christmas; what a crazy week! Mommy and Daddy were home all the time, and people came over to visit and brought me lots of treats, and I even got some new toys to play with. I wish it could be Christmas all the time!

Doggy Daycare Rocks!

Did I mention I have a doggy daycare? I don't go every day (darn!), but that just makes the days when I do get to go even more special.

I've made lots of friends there and all the people love me, too. They even had a Christmas party for us and we got to see the new space that they will be moving into; it's lots bigger so there will be even more doggies to play with! They had cake and cookies and I got my picture taken with a funny man in a red suit with lots of white hair on his face; it was weird but Mommy and Daddy were there, so it was OK.

Anyway, I think Doggy Daycare Rocks and I can't wait to go back!
