Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hello friends,

I could get used to this Christmas thing. Getting presents on a regular basis sounds good to me.

Christmas was good here. Mom went out to her grandparent's church for the children's Christmas Eve service so she could see her cousins in it. Then they had family time at her aunt's home where they ate and exchanged gifts. We weren't invited, but you'd think they could have at least brought some food back! Hmph!

We opened our gifts on Christmas Day. We hit the motherload. I got a stuffed chicken. Nigel got a new peppermint patty stuffie, and Posey got a giraffe pattern stuffie ball. We each got a new bed too. Keiko didn't get a bed b/c she doesn't use them. Mom wishes she would b/c she has arth.........ummmm, arithr...........umm..............her bones ache. She also got some stuffed bones, which we stole away when she was done.

Mom put wrapping paper on my head and in my collar and she was very proud I was not afraid. Well, when I saw it wasn't going to eat me I figured it was okay.

It started snowing in the early afternoon. There was already snow on the ground, but it's always nice to get snow on Christmas, or at least that's what everyone kept saying. Uncle Jeff and his girlfriend had a hard time getting out of the driveway though........heeheehee. They tried for about 10 mintues before finally getting out.

Tonight is New Year's Eve. Not sure what all the excitement is all about. Why is it a new year? Where is the old year going? Will it ever come back? Hmmmm..........inquiring doggies want to know.

It is really getting down to the nitty gritty with our moving. Mom will be making lots of trips over the next 3 weeks. Lots of cages and tanks to move. Check out Keiko's diary for our new family members added over the last year.

Mooing?

Keiko has been mentioning that we are mooing next month. I don't know what she is talking about, we aren't cows.

Mom says we are going to live in a new place. But I still don't see what that has to do with mooing.

We will go to a place with s-noe. What is s-noe? I have not heard of this s-noe. I hope it is something to eat.

Mom's pregnant?

Well, she doesn't look like it, but mom is having puppies! I can't wait! Keiko is no fun, I need some new puppies to play with. Well, as long as they don't touch my stuff, that is. Then they can go back where they came from.

Keiko says that mom isn't pregnant and having puppies, but I don't believe her. Where else would the puppies come from? Keiko can't have any, so mom must be having them, right?

They are arriving next month before me move. A male and female. We had 2 puppies come a few months ago for a visit and they may be the ones we are getting. I didn't like them at first, but after awhile, they weren 't so bad. I even tried playing with them.

Mom must be hiding them in her tummy until they are ready to stay here. We are only allowed 2 dogs, so she has to hide them in there so no one can see. She is very sneaky, I haven't even been able to find them. Keiko says I am dumb and mom does not have puppies in her tummy.

But where else could they be hiding? Hmmmm? Tell me that!

Christmas 2005

Well, I experienced my first Christmas this year. Dad put up the tree on Christmas Eve, but I wasn't too impressed with it. Mom was surprised I wasn't more interested in it, but what so interesting about a tree with a bunch of stuff on it. It's not like it's food or anything.

I got a bunch of fun stuff out of the deal, though. Three new toys, and a rawhide bone that Dakota's mom gave to me and Keiko and Dakota. Dakota is staying at our house thru the 1st. She is sooo much fun!! Mom says I need to stop pestering her so much, but I just can't help myself. She is my buddy, after all.

Dakota's mom gave some presents to my mom to give to her, but I kept stealing them for myself. Hehehehe. But she got me back in the end b/c she stole all my toys.

I tried to help unwrap my presents, but mom said I was a little confused. I thought the paper WAS my present!! It was certainly alot of fun to play with....

Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait until next Christmas to get it right.

Dog Show II

Mom took me to another dog show today. She got lost along the way............hehehehe...............okay, so she didn't get lost, just missed her exit and didn't realize it. We got there early anyway, and it turns out who we were meeting overslept and they got there 2 hrs later. Unfortunately, it was too late for them to register, so they couldn't show that day.

But we got to hang out. It was with Sterling, the rat terrier and his mommy. Then Francis Rocks mommy came and she brought another dog named Karma. She was a rhodesian ridgeback, and me and Sterling both wanted to play with her, but Sterling didn't want to share. : ( We also got to meet Pretty Boy Floyd, a basset hound, but he mostly stayed in his playpen.

There were two other great danes there, and we talked with them for a bit, but I didn't get to mee the danes. : ( I did get to meet some neopolitan mastiffs, though. I was laying down, and mom told me to stay there while she went a few feet away to pet them and talk with the owners. She didn't notice me inching my way closer and closer by crawling on the ground. I was determined not to let them get all the attention. By the time mom turned around, I was right behind her.................hehehehe.

Afterwards, mom got McDonald's and I got my favorite treat, french fries. She even gave me a little piece of her chicken. Whoohoo!! I can't wait to go to the next show...................although I overheard mom say next time she would bring Keiko.

We'll just see about that..............hehehehe (evil laugh)

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me!!

I turned the big O-N-E on 11/12/05. I had a birthday party at the dog park on Wed, the 16th. It was so much fun! I even got a cake with my name on it! All of my best friends were there. Mom brought Frosty Paws and special dog cookies for everyone to take home with them. Two of my friends even brought me presents!!

When we got home, mom took more pics of me and Keiko in my birthday "outfit" that she forgot to bring to the park. I looked very handsome in it, if I do say so myself. It was a hat that said "I'm one", and had little puffballs all around it. I also wore a bib that said "Birthday Boy" on it and had the #1. Keiko was not as happy about wearing her party hat. Hehehehe.

Mom took videos of the party at the park. You can check them out here:

There are other videos, but those are the ones of us eating cake. The rest are of me playing with my friends.

I had so much fun at my birthday party, I hope I can have another one next week!!

Halloween?

Something was going on last night that was very strange. Little people kept coming to our door dressed very strangely. Mom kept handing them perfectly good food. Some of them were chanting "trick or treat" over and over.

Mom put on mine and Keiko's costumes. I was dressed as a pimp, whatever that is. I like my costume, I get to wear a cool hat that makes me look stylin'. Mom said I was doing very good and only growled at one group of kids. Everyone said how cool I looked and two people even took pics of me and Keiko. I only broke the chinstrap on my hat twice so mom had to fix it. I guess I got in the way a little bit and mom couldn't open the door very well. I just wanted to see everyone once I figured out what was going on.

It was all very exciting. I would go lay down, and pretty soon, there would be footsteps outside and more little people in funny costumes. I wonder if they will come again next week?

Dog Show

On Sat (I know, I'm behind in updating my diary, but it's hard to type with these big feet) I got to go to my pal Sterling's dog show in Ontario. Keiko had to stay home. Mwahahahahaaaaaa!!

I had so much fun!! I was not in the show, but there were alot of doggies there that were in the show. Mom was excited b/c Alaskan Klee Kai's were there and she had never seen one of them before. They looked like mini Keiko's so I kept an eye on them from across the field.

I got to meet a really cute little Staffie puppy that was only 3 months old. She was sooo tiny. I was about 20 times bigger than her, at least! She was not afraid of me at all, and I tried playing with her and brought out "the big paw". Then she went away. : (

Mom was proud of me b/c alot of people and kids came up to see me, and I didn't try to run away. I did tuck my tail, but I stayed put, letting them pet me. One kid even poked me in the eye (on purpose, mind you!!) and I still just stood there very well behaved. Mom says it was a big step in my getting over my fear of children. I still think they're scary, but I don't freak out like I used to.

I wanted to go see Sterling, but he was having a bad day and just growled at me and wanted to have nothing to do with me. I thought he was telling me he wanted to play, so I kept trying to go over to him, but mom wouldn't let me.

After we said goodbye and left, we got to stop at McDonalds to eat and I got french fries!! And mom didn't save ANY for Keiko. Mwahahahahaaaaaa................I got them ALL!!!! (well okay, maybe not all, but more than Keiko)

Huntington Beach

Today, we went up to Huntington Beach with our friend Mac. We were meeting with some people from one of mom's other internet groups called Big Paws Only. No other danes there :( but lots of newfs, and there was even a mini me!! The owners aren't sure what breed he is. His mom is a brindle mastiff, but he doesn't look like a mastiff, and he has these HUGE ears!!

We got there late b/c we took a couple of wrong turns. We played on the beach for a little bit, and then we all went out to eat at a doggie restaurant. They even had a dog menu!! How cool is that? Mom got me and Keiko ice cream, but we had to share. :(

I am completely over my kennel cough, and got another bordatella on Thursday just to be safe. I did lose some weight from being sick. I was 115 on 8/22 and when I got weighed on Thurs I was 111. Mom is guessing I lost b/t 7-10 lbs. I'm eating normally again, and will be going back to the dog park in another week. We are having two danes stay at our house until then, so we will wait until they go home to start going to the park again.

Over the Hump

Mom woke up this morning and was not pleased with me. Besides keeping her up all night with my coughing, I left a present in the living room. She wasn't too mad, though, b/c she knew I am not feeling well. She thought it smelled like blood, and was a bit concerned, but not sure so she just cleaned it up.

Later when we went out and I pooed, she came over and checked it out. Moms can be SO weird. Who wants to look at someone else's poo? GROSS!! Anyway, she saw that this time there WAS blood in it, and said I will have to see the vet on Mon. OH, NO!! She was pleased that my temp went down to 102.3, which is within normal range for dogs, I guess.

Before she and dad left for church, I finally gave in and ate a bit of my kibble. I guess I'm not getting any more of the good stuff. Mom was so happy with me, that she started doing a happy dance, right there in the kitchen!! I guess she really wants me to eat that bland kibble, huh. So to make her happy, I ate half of my bowl.

When they came home, I went out and pooped twice more. The first one had blood, and the second one didn't. Mom said she will keep an eye on my poo's, and watch for more blood. But if they go back to normal, she will chalk up the bloody stool to my being sick and straining to poo.

She did a happy dance a few minutes ago when I finished my bowl of food. Geez, it sure is easy to please the humans.

Now it is time for me to go take a nap with my mom. She said something about me being over the hump of being sick. I don't know what that means. I'm not turning into a camel am I?
