Leave a bone for Blazer

Nicknames: da Blaze, Blazey, Blazerama, Big Guy, Lazy Blazey

Likes: Running and chasing anything, hassling the neighbors, chasing a ball, riding in the car, being unbelievably lazy and then finding huge bursts of spastic energy

Pet-Peeves: the vaccuum cleaner, people having the nerve to walk by the window, being left alone, Halties (tend to result in huge tantrums and then laying down in the middle of the street)

Favorite Toy: a chewed up tennis ball, filled bones

Favorite Food: cheese, jerky, Skittles, steak (as a young 'un, he twice stole steak off the BBQ and burned off his whiskers)

Favorite Walk: to the dog beach, because he LOVES to swim, long hikes in the mountains

Best Tricks: speaking on command, giving some love with his paw, opening doors (that's a fun one), climbing out of windows, amazing swimmer and diver, knows a variety of words and commands like "on your bed", "wait at the door"

Arrival Story: I had just started college and had no car and thought....hmmm... what better time to get a huge, delinquent dog. I feel in love at first sight with him when he was a gawky puppy with huge feet and we have been together ever since.

Bio: He is a tremendous escape artist and can wedge his huge body out of any opening, and with his great trick of opening doors, it is hard to keep him anywhere if he wants to get out. (I have seen him fit himself through a tall window that was only open about 8 inches. And he gets his own room when he is boarded, not a kennel, because he knows how to unlatch and unhook the gate.) His worst tortue is being in a crate, and most of his life, he has won the battle to avoid one. He has never run away when he has escaped. Usually he will just sit on the front porch waiting for me to get home. Most of the escape artistry stopped when I got Kira, his sister. I think he was just lonely.
He also has no concept at all of his size, and is constantly knocking things over and knocking people's knees out from under them when he is leaning on them. At the dog park, he has what the trainer called "the poor social skills of a second grader who really wants to be liked". This includes humping, stalking, chasing, and harassing the smaller dogs, and then looking dejected and heartbroken when they all run away from him or snap at him. He plays much better with big big dogs.
Blazer's best quality is his sense of humor. He actually plays jokes on people, and can play hide and seek. He is a clown and an entertainer, and prefers to be the center of attention where everyone can see him. With his mix of breeds, you would think that he might be aggressive, but he is a mama's boy (and a wuss) and a very lovable creature.
