Buster died November 28, 2006. His death was very sudden and unexpected. Saturday afternoon he had been playing outside with my mom and Tom, as they got out Christmas decorations. That night he started vomitting frequently, and drooling horribly. We all thought he got sick from his food, that the turkey he ate had gone bad. After watching him through the night my mom took him to the vet first thing Sunday morning, she was concerned about him getting dehydrated. The vet said it wasn't his food, so Buster had all kinds of tests done, blood tests, x-rays, everything. He was perfectly fine, but he had an odd result on the pancreas test, leading us to believe he had pancreatitis. He was given fluid under the skin and antibiotic shots.
He was in a lot of pain after getting home so my mom had the vet call in pain meds for him. He wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything other than two ice cubes. Monday morning he was back at the vet getting more fluid and shots, plus another blood test. Monday night he got really bad, we almost put him to sleep then, but after giving him more pain meds he calmed down and we decided to wait for the results of the last test, it would tell us if it was his pancreas that was causing this, or a growth he had on his prostate. We were praying it was his pancreas, and we were supposed to get the results of that test Tuesday morning. The test didn't come in until 5:00pm, it was the growth. There was nothing the vet could do, we had to put him to sleep, he was in so much pain, the only way to keep him calm and comfortable was by keeping him asleep with the pain meds. We couldn't do that to him, so we all said good bye, my mom stayed with him and held him the whole time.
He was my best friend, I'm disabled and homebound, the joke was that we cripples stick together. He slept in my room, followed me where ever I went in the house. My family would tease me about how much I spoiled him. He was my little old man though, and so sweet. He had all kinds of friends, the old men that walk past our house every morning would stop to talk to him. He would ask to go out potty everyday at 7:30am, we have a bus stop at our house for the middle school, he had made friends with all of the kids, they would pet him and talk to him until the bus came to pick them up. It was the cutest thing to watch. He would walk two houses down to visit his dog friends Rocky and Garth. Everyone around us knew him and loved him, even the mailman.
We spent every minute of everyday together, the house is very lonely without him. We do not plan on getting another dog anytime soon, it would end up being a replacement for Buster, and no matter how great the dog would be, it could never be Buster. I've never lived without a dog before, it's very weird.

So my family has changed my diet, for the better. I don't like dog food anymore, and stopped eating, my family tried all kinds of canned food, but I just couldn't make myself eat them. Now I get delicious food that I gobble up right away. First they started with scrambled eggs, because they didn't want to shock my tummy. Then they got chicken gizzards, livers, and hearts, along with potatoes and barley. I LOVE it! You all should try it! And I heard there are some chicken thighs in the freezer for me, I can't wait to try those. Life is good, I'm on new pain medicine and I have a much easier time getting around. Amanda and I have become great buddies, I follow her everywhere, and she even lets me sleep in her room! Sometimes she has marshmallows in there and will give me one.
Dinner time!

I can't believe it's been so long, a lot has happened since my last entry. Tom got a dog named Stella, she's a pit bull, I haven't met her, but my family says she is really nice. She's a bit too hyper for me, but what can you expect from a 1 year old?
My eyes have gotten worse, I only see shadows and outlines of things, and I've become scared of the dark, so my mom bought me a night light, it's helped a lot. My mom still puts medicine in my eyes, but it's not working as well as it used to. I've heard her say that only a surgery would fix my eyes, but my vet says I'm too old to be under anesthesia, so we have to stick with just the medication. It's okay though, I can still see enough to get around, and my family is always there to help me out if I get stuck and confused.
I get to eat a lot of people food now, it's lovely, there are some hotdogs in the fridge that are just for me! I still get my cookies, and my mom has been buying pig ears for me, those are my favorite, I could eat those everyday if she let me! I also get new toys all the time now, one of my favorites is a ball with a fake squirrel tail attached to it, I love to attack it and try to pull the fur out, make me feel like a wolf! It used to squeak, but I accidentally killed the squeaker.
Yesterday I got a new football! I had one for a long time and a few days ago the squeaker in it died too, which made me very sad. I love squeaking that thing! After they gave me the new one I played with it all night, and I carried it around to show it off to everyone, I was looking super cool, the cats were so jealous. The cats were given some new mice yesterday because *clears throat* I umm, ate their old mice. I couldn't help it, they were so tasty!
Well, that's it for now!
