Arrival Story:
My middle brother's father-in-law had been in a serious car accident. It was at this time when we were introduced to LL Dog Rescue, the organization in which Ruby, Rosy, Tinkerbell, and Romeo were adopted from. Ruby's foster mom who was a co-worker and friend of my brother's mother-in-law brought Ruby up to the hospital. Ruby was supposed to be my dad's dog, but because of her past life of abuse by a man, it was my mom that she closely bonded with. My folks and I fell in love with Ruby. Ruby came to live with us in late August 2003. She was extremely shy. I hand-fed her the first night she was here because she would not eat otherwise. Since that night, Ruby has become my mom's dog and she doesn't let anyone else pick her up. She will let others pet her though.

Bio:
Ruby lived in a home where the husband was mean to her. The wife wanted her but the husband did not. The husband wanted a camping dog and tried to make Ruby an outdoor dog. The husband would throw Ruby into a lake to force her to swim. Ruby would have to be saved because she could not swim and would sink. The wife eventually contacted LL Dog Rescue. It took a few tries before the woman would surrender Ruby. (Ruby wasn't even allowed in the house!!) Ruby has done well in our home. She still does not like for just anyone to pick her up, mainly just her Mom who can carry her anywhere. She doesn't like sudden moves towards her as it frightens her, easily. But we're working on these issues that she's been left with through no fault of her own, and she's progressed greatly from the terrified little dog we adopted. (Can you imagine anyone doing this to a little 4 lb. dog, or any animal for that matter?) She likes being around her two sisters, Rosy and Tinkerbell, and brother, Romeo.

Been a Long Time

Things are good... I just haven't barked in my diary a for a long time.

It's been nearly four years since I came to my furever home. Life is very good here.

Right now, I am missing my mom. She went on a trip and won't be back for a several days. Mom has never left me. At least, I have Tinker's mom here. But, it still not the same. I miss my mom!

It was sooooo HOT............

It was soooooo hot at the rescue picnic, last Sat. and I had to wear black. Thought I would die!! Thank goodness I didn't have to wear my dress very long. Nobody planned on that kind of heat when we picked our costumes. Mom knows that I DON'T like hats and right away I figured out how to get mine off. I was quicker doing it this year than last year..........Think they should give a prize for this!! I know I would win............Rosy was happy because no one embarrassed her. She worries about those kind of things out in public. Funny, because she doesn't care about such things at home. She's the first one out of the back door to roll right on a big worm.......It's pretty disgusting to watch her in action........ I've been working on her to act more dignified...........She's had 3 baths in the last week for this kind of behavior. Guess I really have my work cut out for me...........I'll keep you posted....

Ruby in Charge..........

Yesterday was Rosy's 3rd birthday and she was really happy to have her "own" special day. Guess they don't let you celebrate them in the puppymills. We were all very pleased that she chose not to roll in anything that would possibly send us all to the bathtub. (She's VERY good at doing that!)

We're busy getting ready for the rescue reunion picnic, this weekend. We had our nails clipped, and I just had my final fitting for my costume. I have to admit that Romeo looks very handsome in his. Hope everyone behaves and doesn't embarrass me. There is nothing worse than looking bad infront of the shelties!! I'll have a talk with them.............the chis, that is.....
