Arrival Story: After getting Bear, I began researching the difference between "purebred" and "non-purebred" (Bear). Since I had never had a dog, I didn't really know what these terms actually meant. Deciding on a Samoyed, we began looking at breeders; actually taking Bear on one visit to see how she would react with another dog. The breeder determined that she would do best with a male playmate. Leaving a deposit for a male non-show dog, we went home to wait for our puppy to be born. Sasha was whelped on December 31, 1993 and we brought him home in February 1994. He was chosen because he seemed to have "all the personality" and didn't disappoint. In his younger years he: chewed up a ball-point pen; pulled a chicken off the kitchen counter (and the glass pan it was in); ate a wall-hanging; and ate a chocolate Easter bunny that was on the dining room table (THAT was an experience!). Through quick-thinking (and diligence) on mom and dad's part, we've managed to survive all these disasters with no harm occurring.

Bio: I used to be very energetic and playful but, as I have gotten older, my energy level has slowed down. Now I spend more time just lying around and napping than I used to.

Wow, mom just put me on the World Wide Web! I wonder if there's any food in that 'web?'
I'm just a typical dog, living in a typical house in typical Northern Virginia. Wait....did I just say 'typical Northern Virginia?' Nothing is typical here, things change all the time. There are always new places to go and new things to experience. For example, last month Mom and Dad spent a lot of time going back and forth from the house to the car. They finally put me in the car too. I didn't know where we were going, so I was lying down in the back seat. Whenever the car slowed down, I had to pop up (like toast, Mom says) and see why we were slowing down. Eventually we came to a place with lots of trees and no houses! Mom and Dad called it a 'campground' and we spent the night there. I had never seen such a place. They cooked outside and, when it got dark and the fire went away, we went to sleep in this small room with a zipper -- I think they called it a 'tent.' Well, it wasn't like sleeping in my nice house; it got cold during the night. Fortunately I had my nice warm fur to keep me comfortable. Too bad Mom and Dad don't have fur; they woke up the next morning complaing about the cold (hee hee).
I hope more camping adventures will be coming soon because I had a lot of fun and want to go again!
