Nicknames:
Tasha, Tash, Bean-a-reeno, Lula Bean, Lulu, Skullhead Boneyhands, Pixie, Princess Pixie Bean, Tubby Bean, Butch

Quick Bio:
-pound dog

Likes:
Chasing tennis balls, poking holes in tennis balls with my teeth, sounding off, freaking out, snuggling on the bed with Mom and Dad, being underfoot.

Pet-Peeves:
having my feet touched, being ignored.

Favorite Toy:
TENNIS BALLS, fuzzy squeak toys that need to be de-squeaked.

Favorite Food:
crunchy treats like cookies, none of that vegetarian stuff for me!

Favorite Walk:
anywhere, just take me!

Arrival Story:
Memnoch was very depressed, they needed another dog to get him over Molly. They came to the pound and Dad saw me. Memnoch and I met - we came nose to nose and vocalized in a sled dog way to each other for about a minute. It was spooky, but they thought we were OK with each other (I was telling him to buzz off, actually). I was an undernourished, bony 34 pounds - so bony Mom's grandfather thought I was part greyhound. I am a hefty, happy, HEALTHY 85 pounds now.

Bio:
I had to be euthanized on June 3, 2006 because some jerk shot me in my own backyard. My family is devastated. I definitely rule the household. Memnoch is NOT the alpha dog; I grow weird tumors all over me - different kinds, different places; I love to give kisses; no one ever notices me on walks, even though I am the friendly one; I like puppies and automatically believe they are mine, but I hate most other dogs; I don't like hats much; I love to attack Mom and Dad's feet and shoes; I hate it when Dad smells my ears - one of these days I am going to bite his nose right off. Mom and Dad recently made a puppy, I mean, baby. Whatever. Anyway, I love him to pieces. Wherever he is, I am and I am constantly trying to give him kisses. I am now diabetic and blind. I still get around OK, just a little slower than before. I use Memnoch as my seeing eye dog, or Mom and Dad if Memnoch is not around.

She was shot, in our own backyard, over our privacy fence. She didn't complain about her injuries at all and cleaned herself up so much that we didn't notice it for a couple of days. Her immune system, kidneys and liver were too tired of fighting infections and loss of fluids. I had to put her down today. I held her until her last breath. I can't tell you how angry I am. Angry that she was such a good dog. Of all the dogs in our neighborhood, including my brat prince, Memnoch, why did they shoot a blind, old, sweet, non-barking dog like her?

Getting old sucks

Its been a little over a year since I have been diagnosed with diabetes. I have become increasingly insulin resistant although I have been holding steady at 20 units twice a day for about 5 months now. Mom is bummed because the pharmaceutical company that makes Humulin-U has sent out a letter saying they are discontinuing production. We are hoping that its just a discontinuing of line for human consumption, but not for dogs.
I am now blind. Before I could see a bit, but its pretty much zero visibility now. I still love walks, I still want to be with my people/pack, I still love to be loved on, I just can't see is all.
