Arrival Story:
I was lost! I was dirty, hungry and just plain LOST! And the world was a scary place, believe me! Next thing I know, I'm at a house full of barky dogs and someone nice gave me a bath. I didn't know where I was. Then this lady came from a Maltese rescue and took me home with her. She didn't stick me in a crate...I was glad of that. But she talked real nice to me and took me home where I had a welcoming committee of 2 Scotties, 1 Rottweiller and a fellow Maltese who isn't very nice to me. I bumped into everything and got all flustered. And then I got kennel cough! It's pretty much gone now. And I can find my way around so I'm not so scared anymore. But JoJo still acts like Frankenstien if I get too close! I had one eye taken out years ago...they said it was glaucoma. And the one I have left has a bad cataract and doesn't work at all! My teeth were so bad they were green and my breath smelled like a sewer...I couldn't help it. The people who used to care for me lost interest in me and didn't want to spend any more money on fixing me up. They left me in the yard all alone so I wandered out and got lost! Anyway, this nice mom got my teeth cleaned and 7 had to be removed. But I can still eat with the best of 'em! And my breath is nice now! She's always telling me how cute I am! I also have seizures and have to be on medicine but I get it twice a day in a piece of cheese! Hey...I'm not complaining!

Sammy is available for adoption at Please consider the joys of adopting a senior dog. This little guy is internally in great shape. He had bloodwork done and his liver and kidneys are A-OK! Very good numbers! If fed properly, he could easily make it to 20 or more! He's a bit skittish being handled at first but persistence gets a lapfull of love and licks! Surely someone out there has a heart and home big enough for Sammy! UPDATE: June 19 Sammy has a new forever home! A wonderful lady fell in love with him and now Sammy has a mom AND a dad to watch over him for the rest of his life! Hooray for Sammy Raggs! UPDATE: July2 Today Sammy Raggs went to the Rainbow Bridge. He left us much too soon. But he left us peacefully in his sleep and very much loved and well-cared for. We miss you, Raggsie. May you run free in fields of green and chase butterflies. Happy trails to you till we meet again!
