R.I.P. Yukiko

I have sad news to report tonight. I took Yukiko to the emergency vet - she let out a yelp then she couldn't stand. On the drive to the vet she began to throw up blood and bile. I spoke with the vet and it is bad. Liver tests were up or off the charts, she had pancreatitis, white cell count low, in shock, dehydrated, colon distended, 106 fever, and oncologist looked at x-rays and suspected bone cancer in her chest. I made the decision to have her put to sleep. Both the vet and I agreed that she was suffering. RIP Yukiko, my sweet fluffy malamute gal.

Feeling better day by day...

Yukiko is feeling better after her visit to the vet a few days ago. She is on medication for the next week or so.

Yukiko ate a 2x4!

Vet visit for Yukiko - without going into detail since it is rather gross - she couldn't poop. Vet had to anesthetize her and give her an enema. He said it looked like she had chewed up a 2x4... lots of splinters etc. @.@ She is fine now, but drowsy. Hope she feels better soon! Poor pup.

Bald Neck!

I have a bald neck! Here is what happened... The neighbours next to us must have had a barbecue a few nights ago because there were all sorts of tasty scraps they threw in their backyard. There were some bones and pieces of corn. Well, I smelled these tasty treats on the other side of the fence and decided to try to get at them. I dug a hole and managed to fit my head and neck under the fence to try to get at the scraps. Well, that probably wasn't such a good idea. The hair around my neck got caught on the wooden fence and a lot of it got pulled out. Now I have two big bald patches on both sides of my neck. I'm feeling okay though. I have a few scratches, but nothing serious. I think I'll need a scarf for Christmas to wear until my fur grows back... which may take awhile because of my Cushing's.

Yukiko's Summertime Tips For A Fun Summer

1. Nap, to conserve your energy.
2. Drink plenty of cool water.
3. Nap on cold tile.
4. Enjoy tasty treats.
5. Did I mention naps?
6. Summer parties planned? If so, then beg for table scraps.
7. Crank down that a/c.
8. Finally, more treats and naps... in that order.

Ah... Cold Weather!

It is getting nice and cold in Texas. I am loving it! Woo Woo! There is even a chance for snow on Friday. My paws are crossed!

Call me skunk girl...

Dad emailed Mom and told her about my smelly adventure. A skunk sprayed in the backyard and I had fun rolling in the stink. I kept rolling and rolling. My shiba brothers just watched. They didn't want to join in the fun. Dad had to look up a remedy for my smell... white vinegar, baking soda and some detergent. Sadly, it worked and I no longer smell great!

Fun Hike

I went for a hike today with my Mom and Grandma. It was a lot of fun. We went to Landa Park in New Braunfels - they have a real nice hiking trail out in the woods. There were other hikers out there and I got petted lots. Woo Woo! What fun!
