Anniversary

Seven years ago today, I knew it was time to give up on my body. I was fifteen and a half. I had been loved and cared for since the time I was a puppy. And I fought to stay alive while my primary human friend came back from visiting family far away. I am glad I could stay alive and give that good-bye.

As long as those who loved me think of me, I will be alive in some sense. There were roses left on my grave this morning, like there are many mornings when they are in season. Sometimes there are stones or sand from beaches I loved.

The tree planted above grows into the sky as I rest in the ground. I was a very smart and loyal and quirky dog. And I got to live life my way..... as a independent elkhound with a big personality.
