Arrival Story:
Dog #4 Sting was our neighbor's dog. They got him as a puppy and his name was Todd. They loved him but he had too much energy for them. During the flood of 2002, he got out of his outside cage and came over to visit our dogs and our house. We brought him in and he was orange with black spots because he was so muddy. We gave him a bath and fawned over him. Then when my husband went to take him home, they were going to put him back in his cage--so we said we'd watch him for the afternoon. Then the neighbors asked if we knew anyone who wanted him. Well we did, of course. So, Todd became Sting (although we should have named him Jagger because he has big lips.) Sting destroyed a good portion of our house. He attacked the walls. Even with brothers and sisters to play with when we first got him, we left all the dogs inside during the day. We completely had to redo one room--walls, floor--the lot. Another thing I wasn't ready for was the counter surfing. I had NEVER had to put things up away from any dogs. The three I already had would never think of jumping up at the counter. Sting--well, he used to walk around on them. He got ringworm at the vets when he was being neutered. (Thanks, VERY much.) So, we had these pills he had to take. He snagged the pill bottle from the counter one day and ate the rest of the bottle. Freaked me out, but he was fine.
Bio:
We think he is purebred but there might be some hound in him.
He must--repeat must-- sleep under the covers at night. All the way under and he taught dog #5 Jersey to do the same thing. He will even try to get under the covers when no one is in bed. He goes swimming in our friend's pool and will chase the tennis ball into the pool for hours. He is very gentle with our friend's little girl although he'd never been around kids before. He goes on outings with my husband and his work on occasion and loves all the attention.
He loves water, and we have to keep him out of the bathroom because he always tries to jump into the bath.
