Arrival Story:
Mercy had been living in the parking lot of a Food Lion in North Carolina when she was rescued by For Our Friends and brought up to NYC. We adopted her in August, 2003. She was scared, skittish, nervous, and prone to running away, but within a few months, she developed real social skills, and seems to enjoy living with a family. She is a beautiful and graceful runner with gazelle-like legs and movements, but when she's inside she seems to retract her legs and become a compact li'l snuggle-bug who groans with deep satisfaction when petted. Watching her blossom and come out of her shell has been a joyful experience. After an amicable divorce, Mercy went with her brother Brighton and dad to live in Chicago, where she resents the arctic chill of winter, but enjoys the backyard and funny accents.
