Arrival Story:
DH worked with a woman whose boyfriend had given her a GSD, said it was from police department working parents. Between her and her stupid subsequent boyfriends (one of whom decided to "protection train" her, also filed her teeth), they had just about killed her spirit - and then the woman decided she just didn't want the dog anymore (she was 2 years old). After we'd loved on her for six months, she finally started to regain some confidence. I looked out the kitchen window one day and saw her with her head up, tail up, just prancing with a stick, and realized I had never, ever seen her "happy" until then. It broke my heart to think of what it took to crush her that much. I was lucky - she was always a lover in spite of what those people had done. She was my big clumsy baby girl and the bestest footwarmer, ever. AND a championship shedder! Sheba Maria McIntire, I hope we squeezed in that extra love you lacked in your first years. RIP, sweet puppy, we miss you 1989 - 2002
