Arrival Story:
My Mom and Dad's friend Tina is in a Rescue Group. They told her that they were ready for a fur baby and asked her to keep an eye out for a special dog. Aunt Tina found me, and rescued me from my old home, which was not a nice place - the people there were mean to me and I was scared all the time. When I first arrived at my new home I was so scared. I wouldn't let anyone touch me at first - I would cry out and try to nip them. Then Mom hand fed me my supper, so I started to trust her a bit and stayed close to her. I was scared of my Dad alot more, and wouldn't let him touch me for three days. But, there is a happy ending. I am settled into my new family and I love my Mom and Dad. I have almost completely forgotten my bad former life and trust other people more.

Bio:
I am a total velcro cocker - I have to follow my people at all times. If mom is watching tv in the living room, and dad is at the computer, then I sit in the hallway so I can be close to both of them. I hate getting my ears cleaned and will try to hide away when I see the bottle of ear drops. Mom and Dad usually find me though - I'm not very good at hiding. I love sleeping on top of soft things. If Dad leaves his pants on the floor, I will sleep on them. Mom doesn't like pants on the floor, but she thinks its cute that I use them as a bed, so Dad gets away with it sometimes. I have some awesome real life pup pals now, including my cousin Daisy, and my boxer friend Payton. There's a new dog that lives with Payton - her name is Lucy. I only met her a few times but I think we will be pals too. I love my home. I hit the doggy jackpot!

ADOPT 2010 CONTEST

My Mom and Dad's friend Tina is in a Rescue Group. Five and a half years ago, they told her that they were ready for a fur baby and asked her to keep an eye out for a special dog. Aunt Tina found me and rescued me from my old home, which was not a nice place - the people there were mean to me and hit me and I was scared all the time.

I had just turned 5 years old when I first arrived at my new home and I was so scared. I wouldn't let anyone touch me at first - I would cry out and try to nip them. My first night, Mom hand fed me my supper, so I started to trust her a bit and stayed close to her. I was scared of my new Dad though and wouldn't let him touch me for three whole days.

The first few years with my new Mom and Dad were very hard. I used to piddle in the house and yelp very loud whenever I got scared or if I got too excited. I didn't know how to walk on a leash properly or even know how to play with toys! I'm lucky that my parents are patient - a dog trainer told them that they had adopted a 'lost cause' and that they were better off putting me down! Can you believe it?

Lucky for me, my parents didn't listen to him. They started watching Cesar Milan and became my pack leaders. They helped me learn trust people and how to relax. Anyone who meets me now is totally surprised if they hear of my old life because I don't show it anymore. I'm even good with kids now - the little girls across the street love to pet me and give me kisses.

My new family spoils me takes me with them on vacation - last year I even got to put my paws into the Atlantic Ocean! I really love going camping - sleeping in a tent is pretty funny though. I like it when my grandparents come to visit - they call me their granddog and buy me treats and squeak toys!

I am 10 years young and am going strong. My parents support rescue groups and shelters because there are so many awesome dogs waiting for a furever home. We collect sponsors and particpate in two walkathons every year - one for a local rescue group and the other one is for the local humane society. Its a great way for us to help out and we get to enjoy walking with tons of dogs!

I sure am grateful every day that I found my furever home and I know my mom is too - she tells me she loves me every day. My aunt Debbie says that I hit the doggie jackpot and you know what? She is right!

Punk Cocker

The week before Christmas, Mom took me to visit the groomers. They were smiling and saying that they were giving me a 'mohawk'. I didn't know what they were talking about, but they left a tuft of hair on my head that Mom always plays with and makes stand up straight.

The visitors to the house over the holidays loved it and I am getting lots of attention. Mom keeps saying that I am a punk cocker and singing me songs. I think she is funny.

Pupcake Recipe

Here is my Mom's pupcake recipe - some of my pup pals have been barking for it. This is my favorite treat.

2 ¾ cups of water
1 large egg
3 tbsp honey
¼ tsp vanilla
2 med bananas (mashed)
3 ½ cups whole wheat flour
¼ cup dry milk powder – I always use ¼ cup skim milk
¼ tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp baking powder

Pre-heat oven to 350.
Line muffin pans with cupcake liners.
Mix water, egg, honey, vanilla and mashed banana together. (I add the skim milk here too).
Combine flour, dry milk powder, cinnamon and baking powder to the wet mixture.
Mixture should have a cake batter consistency.

Bake at 350 for approximately 30 minutes.
Pupcakes are done when they turn a golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
