Arrival Story:
After my Doberman, Pixie, died, I decided to donate her food to our local shelter. While there, I saw an adorable litter of dobie mix puppies. Lucy was the most outgoing and friendliest. I thought about bringing her home with me, but decided to wait since I was still grieving Pixie. A few days later, a Rescue friend called to see if I'd foster the litter. I was hesitant since I'd just lost Pixie, but decided to call the shelter and check on the pups. To my horror, I learned that they'd contracted Parvo and were going to be put down. I asked the shelter to hold them for me and let me get them to a vet.
Bio:
Lucy and her brother Reese were the only survivors of the litter. When they recovered from the Parvo, it was discovered that they also had demodectic mange. I nursed them back to health. Lucy was as bright and active a puppy as I've ever seen. It soon became clear that she was smart as a whip, and I decided to train her as my hearing alert dog. Lucy does not like working in public, but loves to alert me to the phone and cooking timer at home. When she is "off duty", she enjoys playing with Reese and the other dogs in our family. Lucy also enjoys getting dressed up.
