Arrival Story: Lucy was rescued from the shelter by a woman who couldn't stand by and do nothing while this wonderful dog was put down. Unfortunately, Lucy's first foster mom didn't have a lot of extra time or money, and couldn't give Lucy the care that she needed. Then the first foster mom had to move, and it looked like Lucy might have to go back to the shelter. I couldn't let that happen, so I took Lucy in.

Bio: Lucy was a beautiful dog with a gentle soul who had a short, hard life. She was so horribly neglected in her early life. When I got her, she was covered with mange and had almost no fur. She had entropion in both eyes, but the surgery to fix it had to be delayed until her overall condition improved. For six months I cared for her. Her skin got better, her coat grew back, and she learned all the house manners that a dog should have. I started looking for her forever home, but never found one. Everyone who met Lucy loved her, but there was always something that stood int he way of adoption, and Lucy kept coming back to me. Finally she was healthy enough to have have her eyes fixed. She had the surgery, and for the first time in her life, her eyes were wide open.
Then, the day after her surgery, Lucy passed away. She survived neglect and mange and bad eyes, only to be taken very quickly by bloat. I guess I was her forever home after all.

Well, it turns out I was home all along. The reason no one adopted me is because I was supposed to stay with my foster mom and Bella and Sunny.
I couldn't stay very long, though. I'm sorry I had to leave so soon, but I am in a safe place now, where my coat is thick and my eyes are clear and nothing will ever hurt me.

I still don't have a home. My foster mom will take care of me for as long as I need her, but it sure would be nice to have a home of my own.
My skin is much better now. I have very nice tiger-stripey coat. I'm still waiting for my eye surgery - the vet doesn't want to do it until my skin is all the way better.
That's about all, I'm just waiting to get better and waiting for a home.

p.s. Bella wants me to read her manifesto, but I don't know what that is. Doesn anyone know what a manifesto is?

I have entropion. My foster mom is sad, but she's also relieved, because now we know why my eyes are always red and runny. It's pretty easy to fix, but I do have to go to the vet for surgery.
My foster mom has some friends who are going to help pay for the surgery. Gosh, people are so nice. I've never even met them, but they want to help me. My foster mom says that we'll have the money soon, and then I'll get eyes fixed.
