Arrival Story:
On a cold winter day, my husband called me after work. He had stopped at a store on the way home, and when he was coming out there was a lady with 2 puppies in her arms. She had said her husband wanted her to "get rid of them", and asked if my husband wanted one or both. As they were talking, another lady came up and took the little male, leaving our little Chippy just for us. He brought her home in his truck, with her peering at him from the passenger floorboard probably wondering what her fate would be. I'll never forget when he came home and handed her to me through the door, how small and scared she was. Little did we know she was also very sick, and needed lots of love and attention. Today, Chippy is "full of it", and gives us all a run for our money. The Dr. says she is in great shape, and doing wonderful. You find treasure in the least likely places, a parking lot.

Bio:
The name "Chippy" I am certain means tunneler in some language somewhere. She has amassed a maze of tunnels in our backyard that can only be compared to a subway system. You can walk in the backyard and hear a muffled bark, and she is several feet underground digging away to her heart's delight. She is our little "excavator" and as frustrating as it can be when you are walking and suddenly the ground gives way beneath your feet, we wouldn't trade her for anything.

Mole hunting

My hunting prowess continues to amaze me. Dad has moles in the yard, and was looking for tunnels with the garden hose. And I caught a scent and I was off digging. And the mud flew, and I dug harder, and more mud flew, and Dad was just shaking his head. Couldn't he tell I was having the time of my life. I sniffed a little too, to make him think I was on the triail of something, but Mom knew I was just enjoying digging in the mud. I was covered from nose to tail. Mom had to hose me off, all you could see was my nose holes. And the water was chilly, but it was worth it. Don't get to dig in mud like that often. Hope we can go back and do it again tomorrow. And if I don't catch a mole,well......digging's great anyways.

I'm a Hunter

Well, it's been a busy week for me. Mom and Dad brought me home this super cool doghouse with a metal roof, and insulation, and it's all mine! On Monday I started barking at it near the roof and mom came out and looked around and she said I was imagining things, but I knew someone had invaded my house. So on Tuesday when mom got home and put me out, I pulled all the insulation down, and showed her a mouse family had moved in. I was so proud of my hunting prowess, but mom was sad and put me back in the house. I watched her pick up the little babies (there were 3, but I killed one), and carry them into the garage. She put me back out, and I looked on as she fed them and put them in a little box to sleep. I wish she would have brought them back out; I would have showed them whose boss! But she didn't and then on Wednesday after I had gone to bed, she took them back out and put them in the house. And on Wednesday night the mom mouse came back and got them. She better not make another home in my house, but mom was real happy she came back and got her babies. I didn't much care for them, but mom thought they were real cute. Well, I'm off to guard my territory, from all things big and small, but mostly small.

The Chip is Down

Sigh......My sissy, Moosie, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Wednesday. Mom and Dad are very sad, and I want sissy to come back. She not in our crate with me anymore and mom hugs me and cries. It makes me sad too! If things couldn't be worse, Mom and Dad brought home this wiggly little furry thing and wanted me to make friends. I will sniff and wag but I am not sharing my and Moosie's crate. I think Mom and Dad understand that. That furry little thing has her own crate now - right across from mine! They call her Daisy - but I don't see any flowers around. I'll let you know how this goes.
