Arrival Story:
We found Sophie for sale in the news paper and went to visit her and her brothers and sisters before she was ready to come home with us. She and her family were great and we fell in love with her, the little runt just like Jack. We knew she would be the perfect little "sister" for him and returned to visit her until she was ready to leave and come live with us. At first Jack didn't like her but now he won't even eat the treats he earned without sharing them with her.

Sophie's tail isn't docked like most Cocker Spaniels in the U.S. Her tail is hilarious. Not only is she always running in circles trying to catch it, which she can easily, but it wags totally eratically. Because of this and its destructive tendencies we named her tail Vlad the Destroyer early on. So now we always say, "Here comes Sophie and Vlad..."

Diary of the Day

Vlad and I are so excited that we got to be Diary of the Day on July 25th! Although Jack doesn't really like it, we like to spread our cuteness around. We would like to thank everyone that made it possible, mommy, daddy, and the nice people at Dogster.

Mommy's been playing in the mud a lot lately and she keeps messing around with the funny spikey grass plants she calls roses. When ever I try to help her with the mud digging or try to chew on the spikey grass to trim it like she does though, she yells, "Sophiegetouttatheflowerbed!!!" I don't get it.

Mommy's friends are supposed to come over today and I can't wait to tell them about my cuteness and my Dairy of the Day.

Extra wet kisses and tail thumps,

Last weekend mommy and daddy took me and Jack to Eagle Lake again. This time it wasn't so cold, actually it was kinda hot. We got to drive there in mommy and daddly's new Vue. It was great because I could walk around on the floor in the back seat and spread out on the seat and sleep. It was very nice. Only grandma was there so Mo and Honey were there but Suki and Lucy said at home with grandpa so he wouldn't be lonely. Sometimes it's nice when there are less doggies around because it becomes more obvious to everyone that I am the cutest doggie ever.

My cuteness became even more apparent later on into our trip when mommy, daddy, grandma, and Auntie Rana took us down to the lake to go swimming.... I had never been swimming before. Grandma threw the toy for Honey and I just knew I would catch it before her, but the big puddle called the lake got really deep fast. Suddenly I was in the deep water and didn't know what to do. So I just did what came natually.

The thing about it is that everyone thought it was really funny. Apparently my style was a bit unconventional. Mommy said it looked like I was hopping through the water like a furry black mermaid. Jack-Jack is a really good swimmer and was swimming in circles around me trying to show me how to do it. I kinda got it, but I kinda didn't. I think I just need more practice.

Swimming was really great though. There were birds and boats and this floaty toy thing to throw in the big puddle, oh I mean, lake. I was lots of fun. Plus I got to ride on grandpa's John Deer Alligator all the way down to the lake with daddy holding me. He even held me when I was wet from the puddle, um, lake.

Well, that's all for now, more later on my progress as the world's cutest swimmer.

Snuggles and nibbles,
Sophie the Sofa dog

The Little Humans

Yesterday, my uncle came over to visit me. I know he came to visit me because I am the cutest one who lives here. He brought the small people, RJ and Jacklyn. Mommy says they are a nephew and a neice but I don't know what that is. I just like them because they are small. They also giggle and squeal when I give them kisses and jump on them. RJ plays throw the toy with me so I really like him. Jacklyn gives really good pets. I like my uncle but he's really tall, Jack's kinda afraid of him, but he gives great ear rubs.

I got so excited I had an accident on the carpet. It was sort of embarassing but I just tried to act really cute and pretend nothing happened. I'm pretty sure my extreme cuteness distracted everyone. My sweet mommy cleaned up my accident without anyone noticing. Isn't she great?

I was really sad when the small people left. I liked playing with them a bunch. So I cried and howled to let mommy know she should call them on the bellyphone and get them to come back. Jack got mad at me for making so much noise, but I think mommy thought I was cute, even though she kept telling me to be quiet.

Come back soon little humans...

Cuddles and snuffles,
