Arrival Story: My boyfriend and I are both animal lovers and have always wanted to have our own dog. Since I moved out from home (which I grew up with dogs, always), I knew I wanted one...but not until I was ready.
So we searched and searched and searched. We came across a funny Shar-Pei/Shepherd mix, Larry, that we liked and went to go visit his foster home to meet him.
Larry was a great dog, but a little too young and energetic for us...The foster mom asked us if we'd like to see the other dog she has a foster. We said sure.
That's when we met Jack. He was a sweet, quiet, shy white ball of fur. We both fell in love with him immediately. The woman told us that no one even wanted to look at him (the others who came to see Larry) once she mentioned he was 8 years old.
I have a soft spot for older dogs...I couldn't imagine saying "no" for any reason. He gave us paw and perked up when we gave him treats...and the rest is history!!

Bio: Eskies are known vocalists. They LOOOVE to bark. We were prepared...but we were surprised to find out that he didn't bark!! The only time he barked was if my boyfriend and I were play fighting...so we used that to teach him what "Speak!" meant...and now he's a regular vocalist. He barks to alarm us, he barks to go out...who trains their dogs to bark?! Ha.
He's really a great dog...so well mannered and so smart. He can learn anything! We've taught him all the basics (paw, sit, down) along with Speak! and Play Dead! ...and hopefully soon we'll be teaching him how to play with toys. Yep...we also have to teach our dog how to play with toys. Even though I'd rather not dwell on it, I'm sure his previous owners weren't too fun...
Oh. And if you notice that in some of his pictures he has one pointy ear and one droopy ear...He had an aural hematoma on his ear that busted open. He was fine...he was more concerned with the fact that we had to bandage up his head. But it healed REALLY well and now he just looks like he has one droopy ear. It adds character ;)
Not a day goes by where I don't see his furry face smiling up at me and think to myself how grateful I am to have stumbled upon such a wonderful wonderful dog. We love him to pieces!!!

Forums Motto: What an ambitious little ball of fur...

I've been really sick the last couple days and today I was in a lot of pain. The vet lady told me that I had cancer...whatever that is.
I have passed on over the rainbow bridge and I am so thankful that my Mom and Dad were there, holding me until the end.

My Mommy wanted to take me along for Bark In The Park (barkinthepark.org), which is a fundraiser walk and all proceeds go to The Anti-Cruelty Society, where my Mom volunteers. Even though I would really love to be anywhere my Mommy is, she knows my legs aren't what they used to be and now that I'm getting older I'm not up for as much excitement. Well, that and all the other stinky dogs that will be there...they just love to stick their noses in all sorts of weird places and it just makes me uncomfortable. I'm pretty anti-social.
Anyhow...my Grandma offered to sign her up to take one of her dogs so they could go together! She's very excited about it and she hopes to raise $1000! That's a lot of money! But sadly, it isn't that much when it comes to helping the thousands of homeless animals The Anti-Cruelty Society takes in every year. They need all the help they can get, and if it weren't for wonderful people and their donations to the cause, I wouldn't have been able to find my wonderful new Mommy! So please, even just a few dollars helps, whatever you can give.

Thanks!
