Arrival Story:
Adopted him from the Lafayette, IN Humane Society. It was truely love at first sight. I had no idea what sort of dog I wanted although I had researched many many breeds. The working group breeds appeal to me the most for their loyalty, people-pleasing personalities, and their ability to rough-house while still being gentle giants.

Bio:
He was picked up by animal control as a stray at approximately one year old and taken to the shelter. He was fairly well-trained but intact and very dominant. We worked hard to establish proper hierarchy and had to work on a few medical problems. Now he's one of the best behaved dogs most people have ever met. Charlie is now a bit of an old man. While he used to run and run at the dog park and not want to leave, now he can't play for very long before he gets tired and his arthritis bothers him. He still loves to go and watch and play in short spurts, though. Photo Captions: The one of the little puppy eating Charlie's ear: Vinny is a Bichon who was born to a family member's dog. The mother dog tried to kill her babies, so Charlie and I took the one surviving puppy home with us to raise. Charlie was an amazingly wonderful mommy. He was so good with the baby. He made sure I got up to feed him, he played with him and taught him how to be a dog. He was so gentle and patient. It was amazing. Charlie and Scooter together: This image I put together in photoshop but the pictures were taken at my wedding in August 2004. Charlie was a groomsman and Scooter was a bridesmaid (yes he's a boy, but it worked out better that way). They were so adorable in their little outfits! The Malamute: Chrissy was an alaskan malamute that we fostered for a couple of months. She and Charlie loved to wrestle together. To take pictures, they were bribed with treats. You can see them here wondering when the yummy treats are going to fall.
