Arrival Story: Laddie came to us when he was 1 year old. I was 4 at the time, and my brother (2 years older than me) and I were dying for a dog. We found him in an ad for a newspaper. The couple (by the way, they were the ones who named him Aladdin/Laddie, not us) was giving him away because he had some bad habits of snapping and jumping on people, and they were worried for their daughter (who was the same age as me). He was purebred, but while the owner would give Laddie away, he was charging $100 for Laddie's papers. We took Laddie, left the papers, and have had him ever since. When I was younger, he jumped on me and stuff, so I was slightly afraid of him. But now he's calmed down considerably, and the entire family loves him to death.

Bio: Laddie is what I consider our neighborhood's guardian. Ever since we brought him here, he would always bark when a car went down the road or someone walked down the street. Though I'm not exactly sure how it happened (since we don't talk to anyone on our street except our neighbors across the road and on either side of our house), it seems everyone on our street knows his name, and they all pet him when he goes around their houses. He used to stay inside our fenced in back yard, but he repeatdly found ways to get out, so we just gave up on keeping him in the backyard. Now he goes wherever he wants, and no one really seems to mind. He has a huge fear of lightning the sight of lightning and the sound of thunder, and he goes running for our porch whenever there's a thunderstorm. He also hates fireworks, and I'll bet his least favorite time of the year is around New Years. He enjoys chasing and pestering our cats and the other ones in the neighborhood. Pebbles, our other dog, chases and runs with him all the time, but we've yet to decide how Laddie feels about that. It's becoming more and more obvious that he's getting old, but hopefully he'll be with us for many more years to come. Edit: We were forced to put Laddie down on Friday, Oct. 28, 2005. He had gone blind and his arthristis had gotten so bad that sometimes it took all he had to walk a few steps. Rest in peace, Laddie. We love you, and we'll never forget you.
