So last night Aurora and I got home late (after dark) and were walking up the pathway to the door. I usually don't leash her during this time because she has always proven to stick close. It would just so happen to be the one time she runs off that she finds herself in trouble. I saw a small animal at the end of our property but thought it might be a cat, small dog or at least a turkey ( we have them in our area) I had my hands full and called Aurora back to me to no avail. I saw a plume go up and I was sure it was a small turkey but then I heard a growl that was not Aurora's growl. I then saw a white strip contrasted with the black but it was too late. My poor Aurora let out a whine, sneezed and pawed at her nose as she ran back towards the house. By then I had awoken my sleeping boyfriend and it must have been a sight with us trying to get Aurora in the front door and out the back door to the fenced in yard without letting her touch a thing. It's not like we could juct pick her up and carry her, then the smell would get all over us. After she was secured in the back yard we both rushed to our phones for HELP! It was determined that we would be using tomato juice. After we ploppled the poor pup in the tub we then realized we had no tomato juice so he grabbed the closest thing we had.....ketchup. What Aurora didn't eat off of my hands seemed to work a little. Today we are going to give her a bath in peroxide and baking powder which is supposed to rid her of it all together. Oh did I forget to mention this was the same day that she had her first vet visit. The poor thing had one hell of a day! I'm sure we'll be able to laugh about it in oh 100 years =(

Bedtime Story

The first couple of nights we had Aurora I gave in and allowed her to sleep with us. I pulled the throw blanket at the food of the bed all the way up and let her lay on that only, she new her place! After several nights of snoring and being pushed to the far end by her little body I realized it would only get worse as she got bigger. So like I had originally planned I put her on her own bed, next to ours the next night.
I'm sure you can guess how much I slept that night! She kept going to the foot of the bed and whining (I had taken the throw blanket off to wash it) I didn't make sense yet as to why she was whining down there instead of up by my face, where her bed was. So the next night after I put the clean throw blanket back on, we got ready for bed, turned off the lights ........ and I felt a tug at my feet. The little stinker had pulled my throw blanket off the bed and was laying on it. In my sleepiness I put her back on her bed and took my clean blanket off the floor only for her to do it again.
OK, then I understood! I wrapped her bed with the throw blanket she had first come home to and we havn't had a problem since. How simple it all was yet it took me (higher up on the food chain) to understand she was trying to claim what I had originally taught her was her blankie. Poor baby, since then I have come to listen to what she can't say outloud!
