Arrival Story:
Aries was only 10 weeks old when we got her from my husbands previous pet store. I fell in love with her and we instantly bought her. No real research of the breed, no dog 'stuff' at home nothing. We learned very fast, very hard how an amstaff can be and we educated ourselves very quickly on what she could, couldn't and was capable of doing. She is the best spontaneous thing in my life!

Aries just went in for surgery and was in the vet for 2 weeks! Our vet told us point blank that had she been pretty much any other dog, she would have died. They had to remove a foreign object from her stomach, but they had to open her up 3 times. My baby girl is home now, I have to change her bandages and keep her healing properly. She has to go back in in a couple of weeks for leg surgery. The vet thinks she has ripped her tendons in the back legs. She plays too rough with her brother. He jumped up and landed on her back-end and she immediately began to favor her one back leg. Because of the good leg is getting tired and sore. It has been 3 weeks, and the vet doesn't see it getting any better unless she does surgery! I just hope she is a happy fully functioning pooper after all this is said and done.

Another Puppy!

I don't mind puppies, I like to pride myself as kind of a maternal kind of dog and fairly open minded, I'll try anything once.

I just don't like when they invade my space.

Mickey Junyer is alright, he is polite most of the time. But he keeps running up to me and kissing me and humping me and diving into my dinner and climbing all over me, chewing on my face and licking my ears and well, I'll be honest, he's a pain in my fat butt.

I try to play with him once in a while, but he is just so energetic and playful and happy, I find him difficult to deal with on some days. Other days, I take his toy just to get him in trouble, because the mom and dad will let me chew on the toy and tell him to go find another one.

But when he snuggles with me, that is nice. I don't like that he takes attention away from me, I'm the princess, I'm the first, I'm the baby girl, but as it was with Athena, if the mom and dad want this guy, then I have to tolerate him.

I have decided that the puppy is mine to train. I boss her around all the time. She follows me outside and I give her a warning growl and she backs up behind me. If she is in my kennel, which the mom says is actually her kennel, I give her a growl and climb over her and she moves out of the way. My spot on the bed is just for me, so I growl at her and she moves down the bed where she is supposed to be. If she has my toy, I grab it and growl at her and she goes and chews on Mickey. I like being the boss. She is good at learning that I am the boss and the mom and the dad don't mind that I am the boss of the dogs. The mom and the dad are still the gods. But I am the boss of the dogs, and it is my job to train the puppy so she learns the mom's and the dad's rules!
I'm good at training her.

New Puppy

So the mom and the dad came home a while ago with this wriggly little puppy, Athena. She smelled all new and exciting when she came in. I chased her around to get her to sit still but she just wouldn't do that.

After a couple of days, she kept eating my things, playing with my toys and sleeping on my couch and peeing on the carpet. The mom brought a kennel home and put the puppy in the kennel. I used to have a kennel so I just walk right into it and lay down but the puppy jumps on me. The puppy climbs all over me and is just waaayyy too happy for me to deal with sometimes. I don't mind playing with her sometimes, but when I am tired I just want to lay down and she doesn't ususally want to do that.

The only time I really like her is when we are all sleeping. I don't mind her much anymore. She is growing up and learning the rules of our house. She follows me around a lot and imitates what I do. She barks too much. But I guess if the mom and the dad don't mind her then I have to be nice to her. As long as she doesn't touch my stuff.
