Update: Dec 2010

WOW a lot of time has gone by since I last wrote an update on my Shad-man. We have moved from Southern California to just outside Eugene, Oregon about 3 1/2 yrs ago.

Shadow celebrated his 9th Gotcha Day with me on the 15th of this month. Time sure has flown by. Shadow has continued to change over the past few years. He now plays ball and will even bring it back to me to throw again - inside only tho. He plays a little with his brother, Nicholas, but seems fine with him in the household. Shadow is still ruler of this roust.. I think I see a few gray hairs on his face this year I have not noticed before.. I guesstimate him to be between 10 and 11 yrs old or thereabouts. Shadow is still the main man in my life!! Prayers that you will be with me for many, many more years..

Update

WOW, a whole year has passes since I lasted updated on Shadow. Shadow has had a fantastic year with many trips to the dog park and outings, caping it off with a Holiday trip downtown to see all the festivities and Christmas decorations on his Birthday (or Gotcha Day as some call it). He was a regular gentleman and very well behaved. Did not shy once at all the crowds of people, carolers, or carriages. My little shy man has turned into a great companion.

Shadow is not quite sure what to make of his new brother, Nicholas, but is accepting him. Ashley still is his best friend ;)

Shadow is NORMAL...

YAHOOOO - After 4 years, I think I can safely say that Shadow is a normal Cairn. He was so traumatized by his physical abuse that it has taken this long to work thru it. Reason I know is that today here in one of our shopping plazas, they are having Santa with pets pictures every Monday until Xmas (rest of the week are normal Santa photos). Took the guys and got an awesome picture..LOL. Shadow wanted up in Santa's lap in the worst way and perched there ever so happily. Didn't mind the strange costume Santa was wearing nor that it was a MAN... Ashley was a bit leary of getting into the sleigh but once in there was fine. BTW, Shadow was sporting his new Xmas scarf with a bell.. See above for the picture.

Best of Show

On Sept 1, 2005 Shadow won the Terrier Club BEST OF SHOW photo contest by receiving the most votes from their website visitors during the month of August.

Making great strides...

Shadow has been making great strides in meeting and greeting people over the last couple months. He is going from one very abused, afraid of people pup to one very confident Cairn. This is/was the final quark in his personality and I am glad to see he is finally overcoming it. It just goes to point out that even the most abused do come around with lots of love, patience and time.
