Arrival Story:
After doing a rescue transport of two young and one puppy GSDs (German Shepherd Dog) my husband decided he wanted another pup. So we looked into some local rescues. Zander was in a litter of 4. His mum was a GSD an she was just kept tied out in a yard, she was not spayed. Her owners just thought she was getting fat so they switched her to cheap, low-cal food, and low and behold one day there were puppies. The sire must have been a GSD or GSD mix because all the dogs look like GSDs. The owners, never switched back to a regular food. But at weening age the people gave up two of the pups, figuring to keep two and the mum. When the pups were about 5 month they decide that they were too much work and gave them over to the rescue. The rescue also had the mom dog spayed...Zander was one of the last two pups surrendered.
Bio:
We refer to Zander as an UmShepherd because we are not sure if he is full blooded, he looks like he may have some dane in him too.
Zander has Hip Dysplasia and will need FHO surgery soon but he is a happy love of a dog & we are working on his leash issues. Maybe he will become a therapy dog yet...
