Sun Sign: Quick Bio:
 Birthday: July 19th 2004
Likes: going kayaking, sleeping in the sunshine, squeaky balls, tennis balls, soccer ball, digging up the indoor plants to hide a bone

Pet-Peeves: other dogs going by, squirrels in his yard, nail clippings, dogs on TV

Favorite Toy: squeaky toys, socks, crayons and other things he's not supposed to have

Favorite Food: cheese, liver treats and anything that falls on the floor, catching popcorn

Favorite Walk: to go see the kids at school, dog park and cottage

Best Tricks: sit, sit pretty, stay, wait, down, find it!

Arrival Story: My husband was doing an estimate at a house and the breeder had one puppy left. We brought the kids to see the puppies and, of course, fell instantly in love. The first few days after we got Ozzy he would go to the ceramic spaniel dog and sleep beside it. I took this picture just after he woke up. I guess the ceramic dog made him feel like he was with his litter mates. Ozzy loves to create trouble when bored or when I am on the telephone...ripping paper is his favourite or chewing on the kids Sony playstation games.... teeth marks in the CD's :) Lately, his favourite thing is to bury his bone... in the indoor potted plants :| We have been going to the local dog park and Ozzy has met his sister. He loves to find someone his size so that he can wrestle. The latest thing Ozzy likes to do is stick his nose out the window of the car when driving places. When he does this, I think of the "Born to be Wild" song by Steppenwolf.

I've been tagged by Gandalf!
The Rules: Dogs who are tagged need to write down in their own diary 7 random facts about themselves and these rules! Then you need to choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names in your diary, too. Don't forget to leave these tagged dogs a note that they have been tagged and need to read your dairy to check the rules!
1. I really really like to chase the squirrels at the cottage. I also go crazy when I see our neighborhood rabbit hopping across the lawn!
2. I will roll when I want to go outside at the cottage...at home I ring a bird bell!
3. I really really don't like having my nails cut!
4. I ask for a breakfast snack in the morning and I am very determined when I ask for one!
5. I love coralling soccer balls or basketballs...I sometimes think I am a collie!
6. Look out...I can put my ears back...and that's not a very nice sign! Mommy and I are working on this!
7. I kayak with Mommy! Last year I fell out but she got me back in and didn't even tip the kayak...and I love fish and will wade in to see them!
I will tag:

Kirby
Furby
Bailey

We are very happy that Ozzy has made it to 2007. On Christmas night we were at our cottage in the Lanark Highlands (outside of Ottawa, Canada). We were staying overnight until boxing day. Ozzy was acting quite strange when we got there but we thought nothing of it. He was sniffing all the trees, running around, sprinting here and there. In the evening he was even more persistant than usual wanting to go outside. We let him outside and suddenly a large fox appeared out of the woods near the cottage. Ozzy immediately started to chase the fox into the woods. My husband immediately put on his running shoes and started chasing Ozzy and the fox into the woods. It was nighttime so visibility was nil. We could hear rustling in the woods and then suddenly we could hear Ozzy yelp! My husband continued to call Ozzy and he could hear him coming towards him. Ozzy suddenly appeared with a large stick sticking out of his collar. He quickly picked him up and brought him inside so that we could see if he was bitten or hurt in any way. He was OK! Thank goodness! I guess the fox knew the history of Westies and was more intimidated by him!! We are just thankful that Ozzy wasn't hurt and now we have yet another chapter on what its like to have a Westie as a pet! Wow never had this much fun when I had my spaniel!

Ozzy has now mastered stalking things. His latest is when we place a ball about 5 or 6 feet in front of him. Then we sit beside the ball and slowly say "Gettttttttt itttttttttt" and he starts to stalk the ball...He gingerly walks towards the ball and then when he is about 4 inches away quickly jumps to get the ball before we can grab it....we let him win most of the time but sometimes we grab it before he can...and then we play again.
He has been a great member of our family. We all can't wait until we go to the cottage so that he can run around and look for minnows in the lake, kayak with us and just play with his lab friend Allie. After all this excitement, though, we have to stay clear when his is lying down in his crate...he's very grouchy! If anyone has the same type of behaviour with their Westie, please feel free to e-mail me.
