Likes:
laying right next to you with his head (or sometimes his whole body) on your lap, taking baths, watching TV, going for rides, going to the dog park, stealing food off the top of the fridge, getting a drink out of the bathroom sink

Pet-Peeves:
getting yelled at, having his nails cut, going outside in the rain, being left at home while Duke gets to go running

Favorite Toy:
his knotted rope pull-toy or a tennis ball or a squeaky toy that he can chew on like bubble gum

Favorite Food:
peanut butter, cheese, popcorn, apples, anything that a person is eating he thinks he wants some of too

Favorite Walk:
He doesn't care as long as he gets to go!

Best Tricks:
jumping up in the air for a treat or to catch a toy, he can almost reach the ceiling!

Arrival Story:
We have always wanted a Great Dane, and found a rescue organization in town. When we were ready to adopt they didn't have any dogs available. So we went to the humane society and adopted Duke. We decided to get Duke a buddy when we realized that his separation anxiety was the reason he was destroying our house while we were gone. A couple months later we found out the Great Dane rescue had some dogs, so we went back and found Turner. Duke and Turner get along great, and for the most part, our house stays intact!

Bio:
Turner may look intimidating but is really just a big baby. He is a big, loveable, sensitive guy.

Sunday, February 1, 2009 started out just like any other day, but changed drastically in a matter of moments, when Turner, age 7, passed away with his humans and dog buddy, Duke, close by. He possibly had some heart issues and we think he had a heart attack. One minute he was fine, the next he was pacing, and then he came to his human mom, stretched, and collapsed. Before we even had time to panic, he was gone. The past few weeks, he has been less and less willing to go on walks and eat his food, so he may have been in a bit of pain or just not feeling quite right. We are grateful that if he was suffering, he isn't any more, and that the end of his life happened very quickly.

We fell in love with Turner the instant we saw him, at age 2, at the Great Dane rescue. We knew he was the dog for us. We was with us for 5 short but amazing years. Years we would not trade for anything.

We brought Turner home in hopes that he would be a great companion for our Hound/Pointer mix (and part crazy!) Duke, then 1. They bonded very quickly and hated to do anything without the other. They loved going for walks, to the dog park, camping, riding in the truck with their noses out the window, sleeping in the sun, and just being dogs.

We all miss Turner like crazy, and even though Duke can't cry, we know he is sad. His doggie friends are making sure he will always have someone to play with.

Turner, you were a big dog with an even bigger heart. Everyone who met you fell in love with you. You will not be forgotton.
