Arrival Story:
One warm Thursday morning the crew from the Hillside SPCA left for a huge cruelty case/eviction in New Ringold. I didn't go on this cruelty because I had to stay behind to take care of the dogs already at the shelter. But as the story goes, the workers arrived and were in shock at the horror that lied before them. There were atleast 3 dogs chained outside of this house to dog houses that were falling apart. But this was much better than the horror that was inside the house. Every surface of this house was covered in feces and garbage. Inside this small house with only a walk way that wasn't even a foot wide were some dogs, two shih tzus (one was Mazie and the other her son) along with two great danes, and some other small dogs. But along with the dogs were about 20 cats, and tons of exotic animals, such as, snakes, iguanas, fish, an African frog, doves, pigeons, and a guinea pig. All of these animals were in tanks that were way to small for them. The 3 foot iguana was in a small fish tank where he couldn't even turn around. So the lady that owned the house said she would take the shih tzus with her but the crew at Hillside knew that these two little matted and unhealthy dogs wouldn't make it long with these people, so they swooped them up and took them with them. As I waited at the shelter for the other workers to return I saw one of my coworkers drive in with three dead dogs in the back of her truck. These were euthanized because they were too vicious to even touch. But in one of the carriers with one of the dead dogs was a tiny little old shih tzu. The only reason she was in there was because we weren't supposed to take the shih tzus so they were hidden. I swooped her up and then put her in a kennel for a while, when I got the news that I could take her home. So now she's here, and doing wonderful!

Bio:
Mazie isn't a young girl but she loves to play and she absolutely loves to sleep, sleeping is her favorite thing to do. Along with climbing anything she can find that will make her higher. We figure this is from climbing all of the trash in the house she was in. But now with only a few accidents so far, she is doing wonderful!

Well thursday I was sitting around in my old house on my piles of trash that I made my bed, when I heard a bunch of noises outside. Suddenly there were tons of people in my house. They were catching cats and the dogs that were tied outside were barking and getting really mad. My mum was making a fit and screaming and yelling at these people. My brothers and sisters were all over the house getting caught. I heard my mum say she wanted me, but I didn't really want to stay. It was time me and my son got out of here. So I heard a lot of screams and my mum yelling because one of the mean dogs outside tried to bite her. Then all of a sudden I was swooped up and put in a crate with one of my outside brothers. I couldn't figure out why he was so still and quiet. But then I realized that he was gone, and not sleeping. Well I sat in this carrier for an hour or so when the truck started moving. Well I kept my cool and then heard voices when the truck stopped. They took out the three dead dogs and took them away. Then this kind lady picked me up and gave me food and water and let me sit to go potty. She seemed really nice. And I think she had a feeling that I would be her puppy too! So that night after sitting in a kennel with warm blankets and food and water that same lady came in and picked me up! I knew she'd be my new mother! So her and another lady who would become my other new mom put me up with them while they cleaned an iguana cage. Then they looked at me and got out the clippers. I was so afraid, I never had my hair cut before! But my hair was so long that I was uncomfortable. So I sat still for them, until they got to my face and paws. Then I struggled, but soon they got done and I got a bath. Then they scooped me up and took me for a car ride. Then I went to a new place, a clean place. And now instead of eating cat food that was thrown on the floor I get real puppy food a couple times a day in my own food bowl!! I've really began to love it here, and even grandad says I'm good little girl.
