running around like a maniac with her siblings; or playing kissing contest w/ us - she loves giving us tongue
very picky eater- we actually mixed different dry brands so she'll eat. She does NOT like the rain or getting her paws wet.
rope bone, any squeaky toy, any stuffed animal
fish; often eats dry dog food 1 morsel at a time, spitting out the morsels she doesn't care for
"wait", "shake", "kissing contest!"
We went to the Humane Society April 1998 and met Kharma (formerly Brownie). She was abused, thin, and had a unique personality. She was quiet while the other dogs were barking. We knew instantly that she would be part of our family. (We gave ourselves 3 days to 'think' about it, before we actually adopted her, but we really new right away that this was the dog for us).
We discovered shortly after adopting her that she had heartworm. We were heartbroken, but determined to do what it takes to help the dog who had so deeply touched our hearts in this short time. Kharma went thru the intravenous process 3 times! We were so afraid we would have to put her down... but she made it through & has been a super healthy dog since then!
KHARMA'S previous owner tied her up outside for long periods of time. So when it rains, Kharma will NOT go outside; she doesn't care to get her pretty paws wet or muddy, though kharma does like the snow--- I keep joking about getting a litter box for her. Kharma grooms herself as well as keeping her sisters free of eye boogies. Kharma also enjoys sitting on the window sill or the back of the sofa.
KHARMA never barked when she was an "only dog"... she would go out in the yard & just bask in the sun. Now she likes to bark whenever Rani barks though we swear that half the time Kharma has no idea what she is barking about.
THIS dog can't catch a treat if her life depended on it. Sometimes we forget (as her sisters are expert food catchers) and we just have to laugh when the treat bounces off her nose & falls to the ground or in her sisters' mouths.
ABOUT 2 Winters ago, Kharma was lying on the loveseat by our side door & my husband & I were on the sofa watching a movie. The other 2 dogs were lying out in the living room. At one point we glanced over at Kharma, who had jumped off the couch & promptly sat down facing a little table that was against the wall (her back to us) & was just staring & cocking her head. As we looked to see what she was staring out, we realized a mouse was perched upon the lid of the container that I kept birdseed in. The mouse was just sitting there eating a seed and Kharma was just wondering -- (well, actually we translated her brain waves): "Cool, Mommy & Daddy got another dog, it's so tiny & cute... do you want to go play tug w/ the rope bone?" Kharma was confused about why we felt it necessary to jump up & cause the mouse to run.
MOTHER HUBBARD brand dog treats used to make Lobster biscuits... Kharma loves them. I can't find them anywhere, anyone have stores in their area that sell these?
