Arrival Story:
on wednesday, july 23 2003, pipp's former foster (for 2 days) dropped him off to me. he had been thrown from a car the week before and undergone surgery at a vet in cape breton, to have his hip, which was dislocated in the incident, pinned in for hopeful recovery. the animal control where he was found was considering euthanizing this very injured and scared border collie. however, the spca stepped in and (through the cinderella fund which helps provide money to care for injured animals - http://www.spcans.ca) ) got him the vet care to recover. i had decided i was taking a break from fostering, but i offered to take him for a few days. he had one leg bandaged up so he was 'hopping' on 3 legs. he went through a ton of medical treatments, related to the leg, 'bed sores' from the bandages, and physical therapy with shelly (www.pawsitiveaction.ca). all the while he was so so good and just put up with the poking and prodding by strangers. he was a black and white border collie, that was actually brown, yellow and black and white, probably from being left outside--the fur was bleached and stained. his coat stunk and was badly matted, i had to cut out big chunks to try and get him cleaned up. in september, he had the pin removed from his leg, and the final stage of recovery could begin. its been a slow recovery. he still limps and needs more muscle definition in his bad leg. in the cold weather he sometimes shows some pain and limps. he is a wonderful natured dog and a natural comedian. Pipp LOVES his kitties, which has gotten him the nickname 'Bubbles'. The Trailer Park Boys fans out there will know why...

Bio:
his anniversary of his got day is july 23! Pipp is the king of the world. this is an undisputed fact. He whips all the other dogs into shape (nicely) and is smarter than most humans. On the fifth anniversary of his got day (July 2008) Pipp was diagnosed with cancer of the thyroid. He underwent surgery and will be monitored for future tumors. He's a cancer survivor.
