My life...

Hi Friends! Long time no post! I am not nor have I been feeling too well lately and can't really dictate to my mom what to type for me. But she said she wanted to post something for all my friends to read about me and what's going on:

For the last couple of days things haven't been looking up and I don't see a good outcome. Avery's health is drastically deteriorating and it breaks my heart to see him this way. I can't stop crying and as I type this tears are starting to fall once again. I don't know how I'll be able to get through this...having to decide whether or not he'll live is killing me. I know in my heart of hearts that it's for the best. But when I look at him I have a tremendous amount of guilt. How could you put him to sleep forever? How could you look at him and without him knowing that you're thinking about ending his life? Why do they say that it is our gift as humans to make that decision? Sure when this is done and over with maybe in six months to a year I'll look back and say yeah it is a gift, it was the right decision...maybe. But for now I'm angry, hurt, confused and more importantly I'm heartbroken. I can't stop crying... Today was the first time I've cried the entire day. The day that maybe God has spoken to me and told me Avery's quality life is no more. The day that M goes on travel to San Diego and leaves me alone to deal with this (of course he has no clue I had been crying nor that Avery's condition is getting worse).

As I type this I hear him breathing very heavily like he's in pain. At about 8pm tonight I rushed him to the doctors. His breathing was heavy he threw up slimy bile. We weren't quite sure if it was bile or phlegm. In his breathing it sounded like phlegm and for a moment I thought he had pneumonia. So all that combined I thought it was best he saw a doctor ASAP. Of course going in I knew that they'd give me the whole speech on how M and I should put him down. I didn't want to hear it as I have been thinking about this for a while now and the flood gates would open and I would no longer be able to understand the doctor. And worse, to talk to M about it would be very difficult.

When we got to the vet's there were people there I guess for emergency purpose as the vet is already close but I went in as if Avery was the only one that needed attention. Sadly enough everyone saw us coming in and all had a concern look and the front desk people immediately called for a tech to take him ASAP. We waited for quite a while before the doctor talked to me. As I suspected she told me it was time. I told her that I couldn't make that decision without M and that if/when we decide on it I needed M to be there. Afterall this is his dog...the dog that he and Debbie shared. So I know that even though I'm in so depressed over this and so heartbroken, I can only imagine what's going through M's mind right now. I feel horrible that he's away on travel for work and has a ton on his mind that this is an added burden on him.

I've had other dogs prior to Avery and don't get me wrong I have loved each one of them. However Avery definitely holds a very special place in my heart. Maybe it's because I've had Avery as a grown up. I have taken full responsibilty of him. As a child when you get a dog even though you say you'll take care of it 100% of the time you really don't. You only deal with the fun times and when you have to take responsibility of it you're angry and don't want to pick up after it, feed it, bath for the most part your parents deal with it and they're the ones most at lost for it when it's time. Avery to me wasn't a dog, he is my son. We are buddies. He followed me everywhere I went. It is I who he tells he's hungry, thirsty or needs to go out. It is I who he went to for everything.

Sadly he can no longer do any of that. He just lays there. Cries and whines when he's, hungry, thirsty or uncomfortable. When I look in his eyes I don't really see much of Avery anymore except on rare occasions. He only plays with me once in a blue moon. But no matter...making that decision is just too hard.

I miss the old Avery but cherish this Avery. I ask you all to please say a prayer for him and my family.

Hello Everyone!

Before I forget, I would like to thank all my doggie friends that requested to be my friend in the last year! I'm sorry for not being more active on my doggie page! I'll promise I'll force my mommy to log on more often!

Let's see what the latest news I have for all you doggie friends of mine! Um, I turned 12 late last year and boy if you guys aren't as old as I am, it's a pain. I mean literally! I've had major hip and athritis pains back there! It's hard for me to walk and stand long. My parents went away second week of Decemeber and left me at my doggie hotel for a week. Well since I was in my little cage for that long my legs did not get much exercise and I was stiff all over! I also caught a cold while I was in the hotel and I had a running nose and a thing my doctor called a "backward sneeze" wow, I've never heard of that! I had the hardest time breathing make matters worse I've contracted a rash! So as you can see my friends I wasn't a happy camper from Dec to mid Feb! Oh yeah, I also started acupuncture! Hmmm, I'm not too sure about that! They say you're suppose to be all relaxed and what not...but not me...I'm just itching to get outta that office! Altho my doctor is really nice and calming...I still want out! I'm not sure if it's helping me, but I know for sure my anti imflamatory medicine and cosequin has worked wonders!

Oh yeah one last news, I'm bald right now :-( I feel so naked! My mommy says its because of my bad legs. When I fall I'm ashamed to say I have an accident and that me being shaved helps with the clean up! She also says that when I go to the groomers it's hard on my legs so she and the groomers agreed it was what is best for me. Sigh...getting old isn't fun!

OK, if you read this far, thanks for reading and hope you weren't too bored! I hope to update this diary often!!! If you'd like to leave me a message or comment please do so, I love hearing from everyone!!!

On Saturday I had a feeling that mom and dad were leaving and I knew for some reason they weren't going to take I decided to send them a message. I went pee on the carpet near the door and dad started to yell! I knew I got his attention! I figured if I did that they would either stay home or take me with them. But guess what, they didn't! So I decided to leave them a couple more puddles in the kitchen, but what I didn't realize was that they purposely leave those pads for my "accidents"...sigh, I knew I was in for a long day at home alone :-( I guess with my bad behavior they didn't get me a treat from Burger King and made me eat my own food which has absolutelty no taste whatsoever... I went up besides my mommy to give her those cute look in hopes she would throw me a fry, but it didn't work. They must of been really upset cause they didn't give in one bit, not evan a little itty bitty fry :-( Sigh, I better not do that again, I want me some fries!!!

OK, I better go, I'm getting real tired, I need to go back to sleep, till next time!

What I did today... (061105)

Hello Diary,

Well today for me has been a bit, normally on a Saturday, my mom and dad would go run errands (let me tag along) or lately go to the movies (stay at home [sad face]. Well today, it was dad who's an early riser slept in, mom had to force him to get up and wanted to walk around the neighborhood to check out the community yard sale. I was real excited and shock that we were going out for a walk, especially in this heat! But before my leash was put on me, and before I knew I was going to go with them, I decided to send them a message that I didn't like staying at home...ALONE! So I decided to pee a bit on the top of the stairs, as I heard my dad coming up (keep in mind, I am trained, but I have major seperation anxiety and I do this every so often cause I'm pissed off), I ran to my mommy while she was brushing her teeth to hide, she doesn't like my dad yelling at me and thought that maybe she would protect me. Well dad came up and yelled at me and was very disappointed...oops! Mom was too, but she didn't have time to focus her energy on me as she was still brushing her teeth, I think I heard her try and yell with all the toothpaste in her mouth, but as usual, I'm not afraid of her she always gives in with me :-) Anyhoo, I still was under the assumption that they were going to leave me behind, and take me out for a quick bathroom my dad was telling me to sit as he was putting the leash on, I couldn't hold my pee any longer and pee'd as I was sitting...needless to say, he was VERY upset...bright side, it was on one of those small area carpet that mom can just throw in the washer, I think it would be worse had I done it on their larger area rug where they can't just easily clean it up... but I knew that and that's why I did it on the smaller one :-)

Well to my delight, they took me along with them on their walk around their street to see what the neighbors were bought 3 books, mom didn't buy a thing...what a first! As my dad ran back home to get money (I don't get it, your'e going to the yard sale w/o money?) I felt the urge to go number 2, well I wasn't at my normal "grassy spot" and since we were standing in the middle of the street, I figured, why my mom noticed I was squatting, she knew what was about to happen, she started to pull me over to the grass...can you believe that? I was about to drop a load and there she was...pulling on my leash to move...what NERVE! How about I try that as she's going number 2?!?!? Well to her delight she got me to go on the grass and waited for dad to come and pick it up...I don't know why she doesn't like to pick it's just pooh! After that, dad was able to get his 3 books and we walked to the rest of the neigbhors to see what goods they had...can we say lame-o? So mom and dad decided to walk around and get some exercise in...well I was all for it, but boy was it hot and muggie! I couldn't stand the heat and I wasn't really excited for this walk as I normally am! I heard mommy telling daddy that when she notices that I'm having a hard time with the walk and the heat she would take the short cut so that it wouldn't get to me...but noooo, daddy wanted to take the full way home and I was totally draggin'! UGH! I was so tired, hot, and just miserable I coudln't wait to get home!

After the walk, I heard daddy got lazy to go out and that he wanted to stay home and finish up the paper work before heading out of town. So here I am in my cool, comfy house with the AC on full blast enjoying myself by mommy and relaaaaaxing...whew, what a day! I think I'm gonna lie here the rest of the night and do nothing!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, for some odd reason, dad decided I needed my nails cut and try to do it while I was chillin' and it was painful, I was trying to tell him that he was hurting me and that I didn't like it one bit, so I out of anger tried to bite him...I guess that's a big no-no...that didn't sit well with dad and we had an arguement...but I went up to him and kissed him to say we're friends again :-)

I would like to say "hi" to my two new friends that requested to be added to my buddy list; so "hi" to Dusty Charms and Spyder!!!

I'll try to write more on a daily basis (hopefully, if I can get my mom to type this for me!)

Take care Diary!!!
