Me! BREAKFAST and DINNER!!! Ginger Snaps, playing Frisbee when he was younger, going for walkies, riding in the van, crunching ice cubes, harassing the cat (playfully), biting at the water hose, agility and obedience when he was younger.
TED (The Evil Doctor), oops almost forgot Newt doesn't care for having his toenails trimmed. However, he will let me do them as long as there is a cookie afterward.
Frisbee when he was younger. Now he likes Nylabones and squeaky toys.
Pro Plan Select Lamb & Oatmeal.
The woods behind our home. He has also hiked Sharp Top at the Peaks of Otter near Bedford, VA.
Watching TV, he LOVES it. Newt also has titles in obedience and agility plus herding. However, it's really cute when he waves. He's also obsessed with ceiling fans and lights. He LOVES to chase the light beam from a flashlight. Newt is a bit eccentric.
I became Newt's guardian quite by accident or shall we say by providence?? I was visiting a herding trial in May of 1995 when an acquaintence came up to me and said they had puppies for sale. They previously knew I was looking for a pure bred Border Collie. Mom and I went to take a look at the pups a short drive from the trial. Once seeing the pups, before I could get to ground level, Newt jumped in my arms. The rest is history! Newt has been the MOST loyal dog I've ever owned. I dearly love him. :)
Newt is officially known as U-AG1, U-CDX Newt CDX, HT, STDs-1, HRDs-1. Newt is extremely smart, but alas I never pursued getting his UD though he knew the exercises. One reason we didn't get any AKC agility titles is Newt's one bad hip made it hard for him to jump and he knocked more than his share of bars down. So I retired him from competing when the Shelties, Skyler and Quest, came into my life. Newt is now happy to be top dog around the house and he keeps the Shelties in line.

Now don't get me wrong, the little fella is alright. If'n you like a dog who loves to BARK! I mean the critter has something to say 'bout near everythin' that happens 'round here. If'n you read his first Diary entry then you'se know what's I mean here. I'm a quiet sort of guy. Only bark when it's purposeful. Like when that dad burn DOG next door get's ta runn'in his yap then I has ta put him in his place, though that's from inside the house. Mom don't let me out when the DOG next door is out too. He's a trouble maker and mom don't want any territory disputes. No siree. We's peace lov'in folk.
Anyhow, I was talk'in 'bout the critter...uh...I mean Jesse. He's a good fella. Learns quickly like most Shelties of his kind do. Only problem we've had so far is the problem with the deck. You probably knows 'bout that if'n you read his biography page. Thars a little statement about "we won't mention the incident or situation 'bout the deck", something to that affect or is that effect...I forget. Any who, the little critter loves to chew on wood. Plum near destroyed the deck. Mom's dad won't too happy 'bout that. Didn't go over to well with him. Then a Sheltie friend of mom's told her 'bout using White Vinegar on the wood. Worked like a charm. Put that little critter's teeth right smack dab back in his head where they's belong. He ain't chewed that deck no more. Hehe Now understand the vinegar won't meant ta hurt him, just tastes bad, that's all. Mom loves us doggies.
Well, that's my take on the critter. I guess Jesse will be here long afta I've gone on ta Rainbow Bridge, which I'm hope'n is a long way off. If'n ya knows what I mean.
Woof at ya Later!

Mom loves to find TV programs I like to watch. I was about four months old when mom noticed me watching the moving images on the black box (my name for the TV) in the family room. Mom said I was watching a movie called "Little Women". Then I discovered Motor Cross. I would actually back up across the room when the dirt bikes came towards me. Then I'd creep back up to the black box again ready for the next rider. Another sport I like is Ice skating. Mom has to make sure I don't bite the screen when the people skating in the black box do their triple axels and other such jumps. I get really excited over Xtreme sports also. I've been known to bring the channel changer mom calls the "remote" and drop it on the floor wherever mom is at to let her know I want to see another program. She always stops what she's doing and finds me something else to watch. I enjoy watching rodeos too...oh and any herding mom finds for me on Animal Planet. I also like Dogs With Jobs on the National Geographic channel. I don't know what I'd do without the black box on rainy days, it keeps my attention for hours.

Now I lay me down to sleep,
The twin-size bed is soft and deep.
I sleep right in the center groove
My human being can hardly move!
I've trapped her legs,
she's tucked in tight,
And here is where I pass the night.
No one disturbs me or dares intrude
Till morning comes and I want food!
I sneak up slowly and it begins
My nibbles on my human's chin.
She wakes up slowly and smiles and shouts,
"You darling beast! Just cut it out!"
But morning's here and it's time to play
I always seem to get my way.
So thank you, Lord, for giving me
This human person that I see
The one who hugs and holds me tight
and shares her bed with me at night!
