Likes:
Rides! (My song is Born to be Wild!) Cat food tins and tuna-fish tins (I sneak away with one whenever I get the chance!) Having my belly rubbed. Rides! Being with my family. The neighbor's dog -- we're buddies! Did I mention rides?! :o)

Pet-Peeves:
Thunderstorms. Fireworks. Things that go "bang." Anyone watching me eat. That annoying cat, Nitro.

Favorite Toy:
My headless rubber ducky

Favorite Food:
The cat's food. But I'm picky... and I'm very particular about having my privacy when I eat!

Favorite Walk:
To the car!

Best Tricks:
My best trick is deftly escaping any kind of leash or harness. Mom and Dad say that I should be called Houdini!

Arrival Story:
Bear found us. He was a stray. He was in bad shape, limping severely and miserable. There were several other people in the area that he could have wandered up to, but he chose us. We got him back up on his feet (literally), after having initially thought that he might not walk right again. Then we took him to obedience classes where he charmed the instructor, and we've had the honor of having him as a member of our family ever since! It's hard to believe anyone would abandon a dog like Bear. He has been nothing but loyal, loving and kind to all of the members of our family... okay, with the exception of Nitro ;o)

Bio:
Because of the way in which Bear came to us, we don't know a lot about his earlier years. Bear's trainer told us that he likely is a Rottweiler-Australian Shepherd mix. He has the perfect blended temperament of both breeds. He is a very quiet, laid-back dog, but also watchful and protective. When people meet him for the first time, they're usually startled at first (because of his light eyes) but everyone who gets to know him falls in love with him. He got his nickname "Bear-Roo" because, from time to time, he "roos" (this is not a howl, but a low-pitched "roooo" sound). It's his quirky way of communicating!

Magic Tricks

Hi Dogsters!

I found out why we haven't been going anywhere - my Mom is sick! I can tell right now, "sick" is a word I don't want to hear a lot! I miss my rides :(

On the other hand, I'm happy to say that I've made some wonderful Dogster pals here on Dogster. And thanks for the yummy bones you've left me! I just love all my pals. I also love to look at all the pictures of all the different pups. I can't believe there are so many varieties out there - of every shape, size and color! Being an "only" dog, the closest I've come to variety lately is the feline variety - In fact, I was actually beginning to think that I'm really a cat! (My family thinks so, anyway, because I always sneak away with the cat- food tins and run away with them! YUM!) Cat candy is good too, but don't tell my Mom or Dad about that part - they aren't as understanding as my Dogster pals about things like that! I still don't understand why.

Earlier, I was watching Pet Star, and they had one dog on there who could disappear! He was part of a magic show. I haven't learned to vanish yet -- I think that would irk my Mom and Dad quite a bit -- but I can get out of just about any collar or harness known to man's best friend! I wonder if that could get me on Pet Star -- I haven't seen that trick yet! And I know it makes my Mom and Dad happy because every time I get through one, they buy me another... they want me to keep up the great work!! :o)

Speaking of "work," I better go now, before my Mom sees this and thinks she can get away with having me type for her, too! Us dogs have to be careful about things like that... whenever those humans see you can do a new trick, they just won't leave you alone about it! Perhaps that's why they call Rottweilers a "working breed!"

Bye for now!

I am NOT amused!

Well Dogsters, I'm sorry to start this Diary off on a bad note, but I'm having a horrible, rotten, lousy, no-good day! And that's an understatement!

First of all, who let the cats out?! Woof, Woof! Have you noticed the cat-to-dog ratio in my family? I wouldn't normally mind, or even notice, but with the strange turn of events this day has taken, every little thing is getting under my fur!

See... normally I get to go with my Mom every day, in the car. (Well, almost every day... about 5 days a week, if my counting is correct. ) Naturally, this works out quite well. So I don't exactly see what the problem is. Today, I haven't gone anywhere! :( My mom hasn't even started the car today! You tell me - what is wrong with this picture?! (*whine*)

Well, that is certainly cause enough for my foul mood, but there's more!

On my routine early-morning outing, I found out there's a new neighbor. And he has a dog... I wanna play! So did the new dog! But Noooo.... my Dad wouldn't let me go over and play with the new dog on the block. Instead, I'm stuck in the house all doggone day, bored silly, and being pestered by those funny-looking felines who think they own the house!

This is not amusing. This is not amusing at all...

Well, I'm off now to go bury my head between my paws and sulk. I hope all of you Dogsters out there are having a much better day than I am, so far! Woof!
