Leave a bone for EbOnY! ~my little angel~

Ebenezer-Sneezer, Ebby, Kissy-face, Black-Magic, Monkey-dog

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:
-mutt-dog rescue

May 23rd 1995

Swimming and barking at the waves at Dog Beach, playing Flip-n-Rip, Squeeking my toys, giving kissies, riding in the car, playing with my cousins Dumkota and Senor Foster Fluffybutt, chasing bumblebees, snuggling with my girl. Playing with Simon, my cat.

I COULD NOT stand getting my toenails trimmed! I thought my bearclaws look rather attractive. I did not like mailtrucks or mail carriers. I could spot them a couple blocks away. I really didn't like it when people don't pick up there dog's poop!

Favorite Toy:
My favorite toy was a squeeky stuffed bumblebee that has purple legs.

Favorite Food:
A plain vanilla cone from Dairy Queen, otherwise Hills cd.

Favorite Walk:
Locally, anywhere on my block, otherwise it would be the San Juan Mountains in Colorado!

Best Tricks:
Sit, sit pretty, shake, wave, speak, kissies

Arrival Story:
I believe it was fate that brought EbOnY! and I together. EbOnY! was waiting at my vet's office for a new 'forever' home. Her previous owner had passed away. When we were first introduced, she lept into my arms and gave me hundreds of kisses. How could I resist? Two days later, a certain little black dog was on her way to her new home. That was 6 years ago. In April 2006, EbOnY! crossed the Rainbow Bridge--details can be found in her diary.

EbOnY! was one well travelled dog. She road tripped to Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Her top two places to visit were Bear Country USA in South Dakota and the Jersey Shore. Locally, I think EbOnY! is completely happy visting her grammie's house. EbOnY! is also a bit of a fashion plate. Aside from her numerous collars and bandanas, she also had an angel costume (ahem, that is, she is THEE Christmas Angel) and a bumblebee costume. Yikes, have I turned into one of "those" dog people? EbOnY! and her human made every effort to demonstrate that Pit Bulls and other Bully breeds make wonderful, loving companions.

Crossing the Rainbow Bridge....

On April 21st, 2006, EbOnY! crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She was surround by those who loved her very much...me, Grammie, Aunt Carol, Morgan, Dr. Moll and the staff of Christensen Animal Hospital.

Around St. Patrick's Day, EbOnY! suddenly became ill. Her stomach began to swell and her red blood cell count dramatically dropped. For a month, she experienced several episodes of rapid drop in RBCs. Transfusions provided a temporary fix, but would only work a limited number of times. EbOnY!'s regular vet Dr.Moll, as well as the vets at Emergency Animal Care, ran every test twice and consulted with other vets on a national level to determine what was making her so ill. Sadly, a definitive diagnosis was never obtained. I am, however, forever grateful to Dr. Moll for the time and effort he devoted to find out what was wrong with my Ebby.

EbOnY!'s 'brother', Elway, had a hard time losing his 'big sister'. Who was gonna teach him everything he needed to know about being a kind-hearted and silly pit bull? He lost interest in eating--something not good for an already skinny boy. Now, when he sees a dog that resembles EbOnY!, he let's out this whimpery-cry that he otherwise does not make.

Simon, my cat, also seemed perplexed at bedtime when there was no little black dog next to my right knee.

I have had several dogs in my life, but there was something so special about EbOnY! She and I had such a special bond. The thing I loved best about her was her zest for life. Everything was an adventure! Whether it was visting Yellowstone National Park, or just the grocery store, it was always fun and interesting for EbOnY!

I know she's up in heaven providing God with many laughs.

It's taken me until December to write this entry for my little angel--the whole time with tears streaming down my face.

It's been hot..Hot..HOT here! I guess this is what they call the Dog Days of Summer! Well, my girl took me to the Dog Beach on Sunday! I was one happy pooch! First, I had to run up and down the shore about a 100 times barking and chasing the waves - they never seem to go away! THEN I play swim-n-retrieve about 50 times. THEN I have to chase the waves some more. If there is some eau-du-seagall poop, I like to roll in that too! I came home smelly, sandy and soaked. It was a great day.

Happy 10th Birthday!

Greetings to all my canine comrades and feline friends!

Today was a VERY SPECIAL DAY! I turned 10 years old! My girl had a nice birthday extravaganza for me this evening. It included a simply delectable meal from Boston Market followed by a superbly sweet confetti-sprinkled cake (vanilla of course!)! Makes me drool just thinkin' about it.

I celebrated with my little pain -in-the butt--er, I mean, my little brother, Elway. He had absolutely no concept that this is MY day! He was allowed a little smackeral of cake frosting, but that was it! I was also joined by my cousins, Foster and Dakota.

Unwrapping presents is probably the best part! I LOVE ripping through that tissue paper! My Grammie got me a beautiful aqua-blue collar. I have been admiring it for quite some time now at the pet store. She also got me a stuffed monkey that has really long, dangly, legs and arms. It rates very high on the flip-ability scale!

My girl bought us silly hats to wear too. Foster pulled Elway's hat off and tried sneaking away with it. Elway got it back and decided it would look better shredded into a million pieces. Foster decided to do the same with his hat. My cousin Dakota and I were so well behaved. We kept our hats on like polite party guests should.

It was the best birthday party extravaganza! As soon as my grammie gets the pictures developed, I will post them!
