Arrival Story:
She is a foster dog for Great Dane Rescue of North Texas, www.danerescue.net. I got to foster her because she is okay with being loose in the house and using doggie doors, as with my work schedule I am unable to crate. I have fostered her since January 2005 and LOVE her. I hope to find her a special home, but with GDRNT having over 60 danes, and 5 of those being deaf like Mary Kate, she may have to wait awhile to find her forever home. UPDATE: MK was adopted in January 2006 and now has 4 Dane siblings and a lab sibling! She is very happy in her new home!
Bio:
Mary Kate was rescued by GDRNT, www.danerescue.net, prior to be killed in the shelter. She is deaf, tends to be on the chubby side, and just as lovable as can be. She is a silly, goofy, sweet girl that will worm her way into anyone's heart. She sleeps on her back, insists on riding shotgun in the car, and is smart as a whip. Most folks can't even tell she is deaf because she is so smart and special!

I like to eat food. I like to wait until my foster mommy is asleep or off to work to look for food. Well, I waited patiently the other night for her to go to bed. Then, I discovered a bag on the back of the kitchen counter. I decided to carry it out in the backyard and take the twist tie off of it and open it up. BINGO! There were 5 nice soft garlic/parmesan breadsticks . Yummy. I ate them all. Then I went back in the kitchen and smelled and smelled. I think there was another one in a basket under a cloth napkin. I picked it and the napkin up and took them to the laundry room where I left the napkin and gobbled up the last breadstick! SIX breadsticks, I hit the motherload!
I then woke up my foster mommy by burping in her face...it smelled like garlic and she knew I had been up to no good. I make her laugh though.
