A Day in The Life of Dempsey

The River!

This past Saturday, Mom and me went to the dog park with mom's younger brother and his furry kid, Xena. Xena is only about 5 months old and she's a Lab/Chow mix. So today we went to the dog park and played for a little bit and then mom took a wrong turn to get out of the park and we ended up at the boat ramp to get into the Arkansas River. Mom decided we might like to go down to the water and get a drink. Xena and I had never seen anything like it! We're both pound puppies from the inner city and had never seen a river before. I was kind of scared at first and just got my paws in a little bit and Xena walked in a little deeper and was getting a drink. Mom's little brother, Gray, threw some sticks out in the water for us and I decided to go for it! I jumped in and that water felt so good after being out in the hot sun! I couldn't help myself and got my "happy feet." I ran up that boat ramp and over to the grass and looped around and came running as fast as I could back down the boat ramp and back into the water over and over....Mom brought her digital camera and was taking pictures of us and she was laughing so hard at me and how silly I was being. She let us play down there for about 30 minutes and then Gray had to go home, but we sure did have a lot of fun at the river and I hope we go back soon!!!
