Arrival Story:
Meeting Darby...he's a gentle giant and J was enamored with his love and snuggles...but Darby wouldn't relinquish one little kiss. Garrison had fun running and playing on their first meeting. Darby even found the opportunity to trip Garrison while playing and we all had a great laugh. We met Darby late on Thursday evening...and had until Saturday am to get the house prepared for his arrival. Saturday morning was filled with excitement and nervousness...but Darby sure helped ease his human's into knowing he was excited to be going to his new home. The windows were down on the way home and it wasn't long before he settled down and took a little snooze. After proper introductions to the yard and ceremonial christening...it was onto the house for his first bath. Not sure if Darby got the bath or us...

Sunday 4/3

Well...the guys have made up names for themselves...not like I'll ever bark it out but I'll go along with it. The tall one is calling the shorter one Papa and 'papa' is calling the other one 'daddy'. Man these guys crack me up.

Guess Daddy got to go to a party cause I made Papa stay home with me last nite. But the best part was that Daddy brought me some new toys. Some cool girl dog, Anna, had her humans give my humans a gift. This chic is cool...she got me a bright disc a ball and more stuff in a bag. Anna if your human is reading this tell them to setup a play date...and soon.

After I let the guys wake up a bit I convinced them to work off some of my energy and take me for a walk...guess they don't like the rain but they kept saying I was going to get cold if I was all wet. Oh well, maybe tomorrow will be a bit dryer. Max and Frieda's humans came by the house and gave me so much love and play time...those guys are my buddies. Then another human came by and he smelled SOOO good...he had some major good dog/cat smell going on...thank goodness these guys know other animals.

Woof! Daddy is one crazy guy...he had some kind of thing called a tape measure and was rubbin and stretching it ALL over me...under my chin, over my spine and even down and around...you know what! But, I called for help and Papa came into the room and helped out Daddy so we could get this over. The Daddy started showing Papa pictures of new collars and something called a rain coat...what's up with these two? Rain/Water....they gonna melt?

Papa left the house for a long time and when he came back he put some major yummy smelling chicken in a pot on that thing that shoots out flames. Then later in the day he gave me some of the chicken and other goodies....glad these guys are figuring out my likes and dislikes.

Daddy wears a thing on his head each day...is that a coat? But, right around my dinner time he goes and gets under the water sprinkler in the 'spa' and when he comes out he stinks major....ugh! He smelled like grapefruit and a grove of oranges. I think I got them trained on not going out in pairs. Daddy and Papa closed that gate and I heard them taking off down the stairs. But I let out a few whelps and shook the gate and got Papa to come back up stairs. Papa and I watched all kind of TV...not sure where Daddy went but he came back later and had some really good food smells on him and I got to meet two more of their human friends. It was late and I was tired....this human training is wearing me out. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll just have one of them to work on.

I knew they'd be back to see me

What’s all the chatter about?

Those guys not realize we get up at 6:30am to eat? Hello, hope they don’t think anyone at this kennel is giving out rations at 9:30 in the morning. These humans sure have an odd schedule with their lives, oh well…when I adopt my humans I’ll train em to get up like the rest of us.

Wait…it’s those two guys that came on Thursday nite, they’re back…Hello! Hey! Over here! Me! Me! Me! I wanna sniff them again. Hey Jeff, he’s the human handler, how’s it going. Jeff is a pretty good judge of humans. He helps the rest of us racers find a decent human.

These two guys have a new lease with them…man does that thing stink! Yuk…too much human smell. Didn’t take long at all to convince them they needed to go for a walk. Uhm, Jeff are these my new humans? Wait, we’re going to their car…tell the gang good bye for me. Good luck to all, hope you find some good humans to adopt!

Oh yeah this is going to work. I’ve got one of them in the back seat with me and the other one is driving us to their human house. Watch this, pant, pant, pant…oh man I could use some air…hehehe…there goes the window. Alright that wasn’t so bad got the one driving paying attention to me. Wonder if these guys realize how bad they smell…man, you’d think they’ve had 50 humans living in this thing. I guess I should give them credit for buying a special blanket to cover the seats so I don’t get all that human smell on me.

Whoa! Alright up, up, let’s go. We’re in the driveway of the human house; let’s get out…c’mmon out! These two could never make it around the track with the rest of the pack…they’re too slow.

Thanks heavens…the house has some dog smell to it. Wait that smells like one of the guys from the track…oh yeah and I smell Jeff…guess he and Boo were here to check these two out. Woof! Check out this new bed…it’s big enough for two of us…gonna give those wood floors a work out tho-too slick for my liking. Won’t take me long to get those broken in to where they are roughed up a bit. These guys think they got a big one over me; NOT. Yeah, you should have seen all the stuff in that loud room off the basement. Tons of toys, snacks, food, and more toys. Won’t take me long to get those out of that room. These humans are crazy…they don’t understand how to race around a track but they got these crazy things called stairs all over their human house. I got it, I got it, up the stairs…hey leave my rear end alone…I got it!

Spa Time? Ok this is weird…they both have me inside this white iron like bowl contraption and it shoots water out a handle. Ahhhhhh, that’s warm…think I’ll sit down for this little show. Nah, I’ll lay down…man are they wigging out or what? It’s cool, let me lay here in the ‘spa moment’. Oh these humans are too much, scrubbing, brushing…not sure what a bow or barrette is but they sure think it’s funny idea. Maybe I’ll see one of those next spa day…is that tomorrow?

Good snacks, little snooze time…these guys are coming along just fine. Who said training humans was that hard? I’m liking this leash thing. I’ve got them trained to get the leash whenever I want to exercise the humans. I guess it’s their signal to go outside.

Hey, this neighborhood is filled with great cats, squirrels, humans, and other dogs. Hello Max! And Frieda! Guess these two canines really have their humans trained. They got my humans to walk down to their human house and get the three of us together. Max had a great idea of making all four of the humans walk me back to my new human house. Frieda did a really great look over my new house…but she said she’d like to come back and …hey MAX! that’s private back there…down buddy! What’s with that guy…couple of greetings is ok but easy boy. Those two are going to be great to have in the hood.

Well, long day and I think I have worn out the humans. Hopefully, I can get them to settle down thru the nite and get some rest for myself.
