It has been 10 days since my dear wife, Zoe, went to the Rainbow Bridge. She was such a shining star to me. I will remember all of our correspondences and gifts and I will especially remember our wedding. It was a wondrous affair, and took place while we were in Costa Rica on our world cruise with the TPCL ship. It all started with a breakfast party that morning, and continued all day and all evening. We have a gorgeous hard-copy album of the entire affair, and some of our pictures are on the Max and Zoe wedding page, found on my page.
Georgie, in St. Louis, Roxy, in Springfield, Raja, Hollywood, Chloe, Oreo Fluff Cabrera, Toby and Gibbon (both officiated at the ceremony), all of our bridesmaids and groomsmen, and SO MANY OTHERS, made our day a success. Since that time, our families have stayed in contact, and Bobby and Pistol Pete, and Wren have become friends.
Thank you, Angel Zoe, for making my life so much fun, and you will be in my heart forever. Love you, Max.

Today, July 5, 2009, was a sad one for us. Our English Pointer sister, Sugar, went to the Bridge. We know that she is free of pain now, tho we know she will miss us here. But we find solace in the thought that all of her friends and kennelmates will be waiting for her there. We know we will miss her very much.
She was diagnosed about a year ago with mammary cancer, and since she was at the advanced age of 15, our vet advised that it would be a really terrible surgery and that she probably wouldn't survive it very long, if at all. We all decided to just let her live out her final time as comfortably as possible here in her favorite surroundings, and to let her tell us when it was time to leave us. She did that this morning--Sunday at 8 a.m. Her vet, Dr. Carol, was kind enough to come to our home to assist her so that her passing would be as easy as possible, and so she died peacefully near her favorite little tree in our yard. Mom was holding her head and she just closed her eyes and went to sleep. Godspeed, sweet Sugar. We love you. Max, Pete, Sinclair and Jane, and the kitties, Tommy and Bobby, who shared quarters with her.

THE SPLENDOR OF SPRING
by Max Rogers
In the crisp, early morning,
just before dawn.....
The songbirds are singing
to the wee little fawn;
The mist from the night
still hangs in the air....
it soon will be gone
and the day will be fair.....
The cold of the winter has gone
on its way,
Replaced by the robin, the wren,
the jay.....
The sun shines warmly on
the creatures of earth....
and new life springs with
each new birth.
A new beginning....what a
profound reason
to cherish the wonder of my
favorite season.
