Jakey:

What a special boy you still are in my heart.

My life was going no where pretty fast, but then I found you. I had grown up with dogs in my family, but as a young adult, I had never had one of my own. Long story short, I started dating a guy but the guy couldn't always be around. I decided I needed a dog to keep me company when the guy wasn't around, so we went and adopted you from a shelter.

After that, my whole life changed. I had a 9 week old baby I had to take care of. Something that gave me some responsibility. After you arrived I didn't care about going out or if the guy showed up at our home or not (needless to say we got rid of him shortly after you - best thing we could of done!!) I couldn't go anywhere without you. No way was I going to leave you home alone. We were always together!

All the things that you and I went through & experienced are things that the two of us will never forget - some good, some bad, but things always turned out alright if not great.

We were at a dog park with your brother Zach (another shelter dog that I brought home when you were about 5) and I had been noticing this guy with a yellow lab named Whiskey. One day the new guy and I said hello and stated talking and you know what you did - something you had NEVER done and never did again - you peed on my foot! I guess you were trying to get my attention. I had found a wonderful man, soon to be my husband, and you had found a wonderful man soon to be your Pop. I think Zach and Whiskey agreed with you. We got married, bought our house and the 5 of us were plently happy.

Everyone was getting up in age and Mom and Pop thought a puppy would add some spice to our life. Enter Sprocket - a dog your Pop brought home from a shelter who was a devil in disguise!! After him came Luke (a BC from BC rescue of Texas). Jake, you took it all in stride.

After your Mom and Pop put you to rest at the age of 15 from a massive stroke (we were both there with you and it was one of sadest days I have experienced so far) Stuart and Shooter entered our lives - two boys that needed a home and some love.

We have now moved out to a place that has a really big back yard. What fun you would have sniffing around this place. I have found not all our rescues are as well rounded as you - they all have their issues - but we will always work things through. You started this Jake. Before you, homeless dogs were not something that I thought much about. Now it is all I think about.

Jake, I need to thank you for straightening out my life. You were my first dog love and look at things now. Because of you I couldn't be happier.

I love and miss you baby boy.

Your Moma

Talking With Some Guys On The Other Side

Ya know, we as first dogs kinda get an attitude that we are the best around, all the attention and kisses. Soon we realize that there are others that are considered brothers and sisters. More show up and soon we are the older one, the one who is suppose to be grown up. I just wanna be a member of the family. Don't worry about me Mom and Pop, I am OK. Just because you get more doggies it doesn't matter to me. I know who I am and they will learn who they are. All in time. I was sooooo happy where I was and who I had as brothers and sisters, they were great, even though we had our times. Everything set itself and I am so happy I got the chance in my later years. I sit on the other side of the bridge and think alot. I also compare stories with my pals. We all agree. nothing compares with buddies and mom and/or pop.

See ya all soon, licks & kisses from Stankey.
