Melody loves to play. If she doesn't have at least 2 tennis balls in her mouth, she's not living! And she loves her mom!
Melody gets annoyed when the other dogs steal her tennis balls and especially when Mom has had enough tennis, and puts her balls on top of the refrigerator.
Tennis ball, tennis ball, Tennis Ball, TENNIS BALL!!
If she must eat, she eats her kibble with a little bit of Natures Balance dog food cut up and put in it. But really, eating takes time away from playing fetch!
Melly loves to go to the wild life management area and chase her tennis ball in the trout pond. She loves to swim and run and play fetch.
Melly likes to catch big air when she's chasing her tennis ball. She jumps up into my lap whenever I am sitting down. I want to train her to jump into my arms when I'm standing!
Golden Retrievers are like potato chips, you can't stop with just one. Since I lack any real self control, I now have 3 of them. Melody is probably the cutest little puppy I had ever seen. She comes from a litter of seven little beauties. Her mom is the sweetest girl...she's pure white and her daddy looked a lot like my Gid. On Super Bowl Sunday, my sister and I set out for a 4 hour hike that turned out to be one of the funniest road trips either of us had ever been on. Never again will I depend on mapquest for directions. I followed the instructions to a 'T' and ended up in the middle of a pasture high on a hill. It started to seem strange when the road sign said, 'End of State Maintained Road'. I had to throw the truck into 4-wheel drive because the road turned into two muddy ruts. Fortunately, my cell phone still got a signal because just as I hung up with the breeder for the real directions, a toothless hillbilly stormed over the crest of the hill on his tractor to investigate who was trespassing. My sister, who is the queen of panic, started yelling at me to get back in the truck, offered no assistence as I tried to assure the fella that we were lost and we weren't looking fer no moonshine! Well, we finally made it off the mountain and to the breeders house. I then spent hours playing with the pups and trying to choose just one. It is a miracle that I left with only Melody because all her litter mates were just beautiful.
Melody is a sweet little girl who can also be a little spitfire. She loves to explore her world, even if it gets her into trouble sometimes. She'll take off after a butterfly only to be sidetracked by one of the pretty flowers in the garden...that she knows just needs to be picked! She's the typical baby of the family...spoiled. She is a little lover. After she's spent hours playing and rough housing, she loves to jump up on my lap and lay her little head on my shoulder...then all of her naughty pranks of the day are quickly forgotten. She's training in agility right now. She likes it, I'm not sure she loves it yet. I guess we're going to have to try incorporating her tennis ball or get her into flyball.
If There's Trouble, I'm in it!
The Groups I'm In:
Goldens and Friends, The Rainbow Bridge
Gideon's Sweet River Melody is now romping on the green fields of the Rainbow Bridge. I know she's chasing rabbits and squirrels. And the tennis ball is being thrown just for her all day long. Play hard my little lamb. Mom loves you and misses you, but she knows you're as happy as can be, free from all hurt and worry. Go sweet girl, I'll be there soon!

So this is where we part, My Friend,
and you'll run on, around the bend,
gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find.
I will go on. I'll find the strength,
life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
share one last look, before I grieve.
There are others, that much is true,
but they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
will remember well all you've taught.
Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
take with you this....I loved you best.
I just read this today Lil Mel and I thought of you. It's been over a year now, but I still grieve as though it was only yesterday.

My sweet little girl has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. My smiley little golden who owned my heart had to leave me today. Why does God always take the ones you love best?
I love you Melody. You are a super neat girl with lots of love to give, just not enough time to give it all away. You will live forever in my heart. I miss you so much already. I love you Melody.

Who in the world is Blues Clues? Mom called me that yesterday. Well, like I've said before, IT'S NOT MY FAULT! Uncle Tim brought home two real nice blue pens from his work the other day and we just wanted to look at them. Gid got up on the table and brought them down for us to see. He took off outside with them, even though me and River told him not to. I got the first one away from him and I was about to take it back inside when I realized that it probably wasn't even a pen, but just another chew toy Mom forgot to give us. I sat down in the middle of the yard while Mom WATCHED me chew it up. She's old and can't see things far away anymore, so by the crunching, she thought I had a stick. Then she realized crunched sticks don't make that kind of sound, so she came running over to me and found blue ink all over my front paws. I thought it looked kind of pretty. Apparently she didn't. I got marched right over to the hose and got sprayed off, which on any other day, I don't mind, but didn't Mom notice that it's FREEZING COLD outside? Anyways a little while later, Mom realized that River had the other pen and she chewed it to smithereens and also had blue ink on her paws. I guess it's okay if River does it, cause she didn't get hollered at. She's a goody four paws anyway, she hardly ever does anything wrong. And anyways the fault belongs to Gid because he got them off the table in the first place. Did he get hollered at? NO! And he's the naughtiest dog ever. I just wish Mom could see it.
