Doggie Dynamics:

Quick Bio:

Gideon just loves people...especially little kids. He loves to get the girls to chase him. And he loves to steal things he's not suppose to have.

Doing anything he's been asked to do that he doesn't want to do, like coming inside so that I can go to work. He hates the tunnel in his agility class. He hates it when the girls argue about a toy or the food dish.

Favorite Toy:
His two sisters and little electronic devises like the remote, cell phones, and keyless entry car keys.

Favorite Food:
Nutro-Lamb and Rice...treats, all treats and he really enjoys a smelly sock.

Favorite Walk:
Manassas Battlefields...anywhere there is water or mud.

Best Tricks:
He knows all of his basic obedience cues, but he's really best at falling over and refusing to move.

Arrival Story:
I just lost the very first dog that I had ever been owned by and I was devistated. Everyone said I should get a puppy, but I didn't want another dog. I wanted another dog that was just like Sam. I went and the local SPCA's. Maybe I'm wrong, but I found it a bit offensive that they wanted to do credit checks and have medical histories before I could adopt a dog. I understand there are lots of irresponsible people in the world, but my vet of 11 years could have told them anything they wanted to know about how I took care of my dogs. So I started to look in the paper for lab/golden mixes. There were lots of labs and lots of goldens, but no mixes. Just on a whim, I went to visit some Golden puppies that were advertised in the paper. It was there that I found out that reputable breeders don't just sell their puppies to anybody. She asked all sorts of questions about where my puppy would live, who my vet was, what kind of food I planned on feeding him, and how long the puppy would be alone. Well after all the questions were answered and I was shown all the health papers on her dogs, I got to play with all the male puppies, because I wanted a male. Gid was the biggest boy and I think the most handsome, though all the puppies were gorgeous. He layed calmly in my arms and played with great abandon with his brothers. He was the one...I got to pick him up a week later.

Gid is a great dog with a great big heart. He loves everybody and he's real smart. He's filled any empty spot in my heart that was left when Sam went to the Rainbow Bridge. He's a registered therapy dog. It's a lot of fun for him and I know that he brings a ray of sunshine to people who spend the last years of their lives in pretty lonely places. There's nothing like seeing those huge smiles and those wrinkled hands touching and being touched by a smiling ball of fur. It's my sincere hope that no matter what breed or what mix you have, that you would take an hour a week or an hour a month to share your special friend with someone who can no longer take care of a pet.

Hi Diary,

I am free at last! Out of Prison, but still caged. One of my girls still suffers from her bi-annual condition, so we're separated. Such sweet love, not to be consimated...oh well, I'm told there will be another season.

It's great to be home. Me and Melody frollic and have fun while River and I are separated. It's a little frustrating but I'm told it will only be for a couple more days. River snaps at my attempts for affection...Another cranky b----- in the house...I thought Mom was the only one capable of such crankiness, but I guess all females are the same.

Well, it's time for me to go in the crate, so my girl can have time outside. I sure hope this ends soon...I'm exhausted.

Hello From Prison

Hello Diary,

I'm writing you from the 'retreat center' run by nuns. I get sent here every six months. Oh, I get wilderness hikes, treats, baths and all kinds of attention, but it's still prison, especially since I have two beautiful girls at home that long for my affection. I thought these kinds of places were for girls who find themselves in trouble...that's all a lie, they're for the Cassanovas, womanizers, and young boys that don't know any better.

Anyways, Mom says that both my girls are in heat and both are too young to tango, if you know what I mean. So here I sit, all dressed up and no place to go. What a shame! Yesterday, Mom took me to the PetsMart and on a real long hike at the battlefields. Since we've had so much rain, the little stream had lots of water in it...!!! It was an attempt to bribe me into not being mad that I have to spend time at the 'retreat center'. She doesn't think I know her tricks, but she can't fool anybody.

Show Dog?

Hi Diary,

I'm taking another obedience class. Will they ever end? Mom says she's taking the class for she can teach other people how to torture their own dogs. You know, making their canines sit when they want to explore, down when they want to run, and stay when they just want to see what Fido is doing. First she makes me sit through the first class so she can 'observe'. It's torture. There are 15 puppies...15 puppies that want me to play with them, but Mom makes me sit in the corner like I'm some kind of outcast...All the little ones roam very close to me and when I go into my play bow, Mom hollers at me. The next class is all beginners stuff, but I still have to do it...I KNOW sit, touch, look, down...if we're going to this stupid class, couldn't we do something that has some challenge? Anyway, the lady that's teaching my Mom how to do all the torture routines says Mom should make me a show dog. OH NO! I know that it would turn into something like agility. Anyways, she's old, maybe she'll forget...I hope she forgets!
