My Tail of Devotion for Rocket

Dear Rocket:

Your life before you came to live with us is something you did not deserve. To be tied up outside 24/7, to be starved, neglected, and unwanted is something no animal should have to go through.

You are the sweetest, most affectionate dog I have ever known in my life. Your silly quirks and odd ways are what makes you special.

You are always smiling, acting silly and playful, and always ready and raring ot go, even though for almost 3 years, you had nothing to smile about. Now you can come and go in the yard whenever you please, you can sleep on the bed, the couch, anywhere you want. And when you look at me while I'm eating with that sweet face, how can I not sneak you a treat?

Even though you were rescued from a horrible situation, you have brought more to my life than I will ever bring to yours.

Save Others Like Me!

I was one of the lucky ones. I was rescued twice. Well, the first time I was rescued from the shelter, I went with some very bad people. But, I'm like a cat with 9 lives, because my forever mom rescued me. And I'm here for good.

Others like me, though aren't so lucky. Time runs out for them before they can be rescued into a loving home.

Please, if you know someone living in or around NJ or PA, who wants to save an animal from unnecessary death due to lack of space in the shelter, tell them to visit the following websites:

I love living with my new family. The people I lived with before did not take care of me. They didn't even feed me right. I used to be super-skinny. I was outside all of the time. And I even had fly-bites on my ear when the man from the shelter came and rescued me. I thank whoever called the shelter to come take me away from that horrible house.

But now I am living the life of a princess. I eat more food than I could ever want (well, maybe that's not altogether true, because I ALWAYS want food). I live in a nice warm house. I go outside in the yard when I want to and I'm allowed back in as soon as I'm ready. I get to curl up with my brothers and my human family, on the couch, on the bed, anywhere I want. And now I go for walks a lot. I never did that at my old house and at first I was scared. I wasn't sure where they were taking me. Now I love it. So many things to see, hear, and smell. It's great being a dog!

I'm learning to play with toys, too. I never had toys. When I first got here, my mom would give me a ball and she would try to get me to give it back to her so she could throw it. I didn't get it. I thought she was taking it from me, because I wasn't supposed to have it.

I hope that reading this will help everyone understand that sometimes when a dog has trouble getting used to living in a new place, that it's because of the way they lived before they got to their new home. With time and patience, we all learn to live happily ever after.

Will write more soon, gotta go eat, I hear noises in the kitchen and that means food!
