Arrival Story:
Annie had worked for several years as a member of USDA's Beagle Brigade. When Annie retired, my friend, who was her partner, asked me to take her in, since I was looking for another dog to keep Fox company.

Bio:
Annie had a fan club at the Alameda dog park. When she wasn't following her nose, she was standing on a picnic table, yelling. One day, a man came to the park by the ferry landing with a pair of Afghan hounds. Annie followed him as he strolled around. When he stopped, she'd sit at his feet. When he moved, she'd follow at heel. He came to where I was sitting and asked whose dog. I said mine. He asked why she was following him around. I said it was because he had food. He denied having anything. I said that Annie believed differently. He then walked off, with Annie following along. After a bit, he came back and asked if Annie could have a treat. I said it was ok. He took the treats out of his pocket, right where Annie said they would be. It was only then that I told him about Annie's former career as a detector dog, trained to find food.
