Arrival Story:
Based on the breeds, you can probably guess Arya came from a less than stellar breeder. It was a couple weeks after we lost Misha, and my boyfriend starts showing me all these puppies. We were coping in different ways, and he couldn't wait to get another dog. We agreed that we wanted another small-ish spitz type dog, but not a male or a grey klee kai (we wanted to make sure we weren't trying to treat the new pup like Misha). He found Arya on PuppyFind from a breeder in Kansas and it was kind emotional impulse buy. >_>;; She said someone else was looking at the puppy and that if we wanted her we needed to call soon, and I have trouble making decisions quick... After the purchase I kind of panicked and asked if we could ask the breeder to hold the puppy until the end of the month, which she had no problem doing thank goodness. On the downside it gave me time to do some research and I found almost nothing. She had no online presence at all, other than PuppyFind. Too late though, at that point it was just cross my fingers. The day she arrived on the plane was terribly exciting. By that point I was ready for a new pup. And she was gorgeous!! Completely overwhelmed by the whole ordeal, but so so pretty. We got her to the vet that day, which I worried might be a bad idea but I was nervous and needed to know for sure that she was in good health. The vet said everything was in order, and that the breeder had kept her up on her vaccines and health checks. Super relieved!

Both the Shiba and the Klee Kai show up pretty equally I think in her personality. She's a very independent thinker, stubborn, but at the same time very sensitive. She looks tough when she's adventuring in the woods, but when it comes to greeting dogs/people her ears go back and she sends out a lot of calming signals, but her tail wags furiously and she play bows. Like she's saying, "Don't hurt me, can we please be friends...??" I'm hoping that more positive interactions will build her confidence though and she won't feel the need to put out so many calming signals. She's no lap dog, but she loves to nap near me and prefers to know where I am. Happily though, no signs of separation anxiety yet. When I have to leave her inside alone for a few minutes, she lays down and waits on the rug or doormat. Misha had A LOT of separation anxiety, so it's kind of cool to see a puppy who's pretty sure I'm coming back instead of it being the end of the world. Looking forward to seeing more of her personality develop as she gets older!
