My mom says I'm so smart because...

My mom gives us a taste of a treat she's eating sometimes. The other night she treated us to a little pudding. She told my human dad that I was so smart because I knew exactly how to get every little drop of pudding on the spoon, just like a human. I open my mouth and bite down to clean that spoon right off!

My brother opens his mouth and my mom has to pour it in. Pfft! My sister, with her extra long tongue, gets it all over herself and the floor, she's so dopey. I think I'm part human!

Dog Haters Make Lousy Neighbors

I have a neighbor with two small children and another one on the way. Their yard is above mine in the back. Her kids throw things at us in the yard and they make barking noises to get me barking.

They had the nerve to call Animal Control on my mom the other day. My mom tried to explain to them that we are not outside dogs, that we are not out at all hours of the night, disturbing the peace.

My mom has to stay outside with us now because she is afraid the neighbor will try to poison us. My mom says these people should not be living in a community where people have kids and dogs that make noise during the day. She says they should move to a place where their nearest neighbor would be 100 miles away.

She also said that she pays too much in taxes to be threatened with a citation because the neighbors are lying about how much noise we dogs make. She says that the woman probably wants to pull her hair out, having 3 children so close in age that she cannot control and she has to blame someone for the kids not napping like they should. We dogs are the ones she is blaming.

What ever happened to 'Love Thy Neighbor" including their dogs?

My Blue Eyes!

See the new picture of me with my eyes glowing blue? That's my Steve Urkel "Did I Do That?" look. My canine sister's eyes glow green when she looks into the camera, and my human siblings' eyes turn red. Isn't that weird?

My mom saw a picture of a Lab/Newfoundland Mix at a shelter and he looks just like me! My mom is going to add him and maybe he can find a home. Check him out! We could be littermates!

I was one of the lucky ones. My mom rescued me.

Others, like me, aren't so lucky. Please, if you know someone living in or around NJ or PA, who wants to save an animal from unnecessary death due to lack of space in the shelter, tell them to visit the following websites:

What's that thing in my yard?!

The other night while we were out on our last potty run in the yard, I saw something in the yard that I had never seen before. It was the size of a cat, but it had a triangle-shaped head. I started to bark, a different kind of bark, but this thing wouldn't move. It wasn't dead because I saw its' eyes open and close. It must have been, you know...playing possum...because it definitely was not moving. I did not know what it was and I did not like it being in my yard.

My mom came running out of the house, in a panic. I heard her tell dad that a bark came out of me that she had never heard before. She thought that another dog had somehow gotten into our yard. She ran over to see what it was, and, guess what, it was a possum!

Anyway, my mom corralled us dogs into the house and then she went back out with a flashlight to see the possum again. But it was finally gone.

That was a scary experience for all of us. I hope I never see that thing again.

How'd you get your name?

I have heard some really funny stories about how dogs came to get their names. Anyone care to share theirs? Just drop me an email!

My Name: Yogi

My human family already had a grown up dog when I came to live with them. His name is Bear. My 'mom' thought it would be clever to name me Yogi so that her dogs' names would have a theme; you know, Yogi and Bear, Yogi Bear! Kinda corny but I do like my name now.

The only thing that I can't figure out is why, when they brought home a sister for me and Bear, they didn't name her Cindy like the girl in the Yogi Bear cartoons. They named her Rocket after some dumb guy who used to pitch for the NY Yankees!

Can you believe that? Does your human family do dumb things, too? Like, for instance, my 'mom' wrote 'pound dog' on my doggie page. I weigh a lot more than a pound, what is she talking about?

Well, gotta run...I heard someone say "time to eat!"

Later,

Yogi
