Bio:
At first we wanted to name Dill "Kipwinger" (as in the lead singer from Winger...and, yes, it was to be spelled as one word). We found that Kipwinger was too hard to say in one breath. Plus, Dill's little face just didn't go with the name of a hair metal lead singer. Dilly had a rough start in general. We got him when he was six weeks old from a family who was selling puppies...not really a breeder, but people who maybe didn't have enough time to be fully attentive? He was so small, having been the runt as well. When he came home, it appeared that he was having trouble breathing. We took him to the vet and found that he had inhaled his own vomit that had worms in it which gave him pneumonia AND an infection (say that in one breath). Had the people been taking better care of him, he would not have had this particular strain of worms. Dill had to be given shots and meds to rehydrate him, as well as clear up the infection. Then, as his little immune sytem was already taxed, he developed kennel cough...which our other dog also picked up. After that cleared up, we found that Dill had demodectic mange -- the kind of mites that makes most of the hair fall out. He looked like a shriveled bald man. I think he was finally fully on the mend by the time he was about a year old. He's almost two now and we haven't had any other problems.
