   Leave a bone for Merlin

Bubbalicious, Fuzzbucket, Fattycakes, Scooterpie, Sweetiecutie

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:
-dog rescue

November 15th 2002

Going to the park, car rides (he is insanely in love with rides!), ripping apart stuffed animals (only the ones I give him though), morning cuddles right beforeI get out of bed

Having his paws dried off, not being fed on demand

Favorite Toy:
Banzai (my other dog)

Favorite Food:
Food - he really doesn't care, but he sure is happy when he sees his dish being filled!

Favorite Walk:
The off leash park in the river valley near our house

Best Tricks:
He is bizarrely flexible - he can be lying with his feet facing one direction, his head facing another and his body in a third!

Arrival Story:
I had been wanting another dog for some time and a co-worker suggested a web site for a rescue agency here in the city. I went on and looked at the dogs available, but wasn't grabbed by any one in particular. Then I looked under the "special needs" section of their site and saw the picture that melted me! Merlin was just a little over a year old and very well behaved and great with people and other dogs (everyone is always amazed at how gentle and laid back he is and what a good nature he has - especially around little dogs and little kids!) but he had been diagnosed with pretty severe hip dysplasia in both hips that required daily medication and will eventually require surgery. Seeing as how my border collie Banzai also has hip dysplasia, I was aware of what was involved and the future medical bills and medication costs idn't seem to matter when I would look at the sweet face in the picture. I arranged an appointment to meet him at the house he was being fostered at. I didn't want to get my hopes up b/c if he was really barky or jumpy, I wasn't sure I would still take him. However, he was an angel! He had some training and beautiful manners, so I was sold. A week later I took him to my house for a play date with my other dog just to be sure that they would get along. Merlin walked in the house, grabbed a kong and laid down on one of the dog beds like he had never lived anywhere else and the rest is history!.

I hope you have a great one and get lots of good treats and new toys. I will try my best not to make you mad today - I won't try to steal your dinner or wreck your new tennis balls. That's my present to you. Happy Birthday!
